Capacity Limits Starting in May

Completely without warning, Amazon has just slashed our FBA capacity limits.

We were cut to where we now only have about 30% of the storage space that we were given for April.

We will now be over capacity starting in May by, again, about 30%.

Amazon has given us just DAYS to warn us that not only can we not send anything else in, we have to remove 30% of what we have already sent to Amazon.

This is insane.

2025 is absolutely the worst year I have ever experienced on Amazon in the 13 years I have been selling here.

YES! This happened to us too! We had 452cu ft in April, and suddenly it was cut by 75% down to 129 Cu ft for May, and even LESS in June and July???? What in the WORLD is going on? WE only used 24% of our limit this month, and suddenly we are at 90% capacity??? How are we going to ship new inventory? Sales went down, but not by THAT MUCH. More like about 20% decrease from March.

So we are getting hit with LOW inventory fees for not having enough, and now our capacity is slashed by 75% without warning or reason? I sell 8000 units a year on here. How am I supposed to keep items stocked and do business with massive cuts like this??? Do they WANT people to stop shipping our stuff to FBA entirely?? Headache and micromanaged inventory doesnt even BEGIN to cover this.

All of these changes are coming so fast with very little chance to react and adapt.

The low inventory fees and inventory placement fees last year encouraged us to send in more inventory spread out over more shipments in order to minimize inbounding costs and keep inventory levels high.

This year is starting off very slow for sales, so yes, we're not selling through our inventory as quickly as we once did.

We've already been getting slammed with storage fees and inventory utilization surcharges this year on top of (because of) the slower sales.

And now we're getting THIS.

How were we supposed to plan for this?

This year is already a struggle because of slower sales, and Amazon keeps finding new ways to squeeze us.

We're losing money every step of the way, no matter what we do.

Amazon, you are going to kill the golden goose that is your sellers. Death by a thousand cuts.

Thanks for raising this topic here on the forums. Folks may already be aware of these options, but I wanted to jump in and share a couple things you can do to manage your FBA inventory:

  • You can use the Capacity Manager to request more capacity in FBA. We're reviewing these requests regularly and will allocate additional capacity based on our available space.

This is absolutely unacceptable. No additional capacity can be requested for May. This is an incredible financial burden. It's embarrassing for Amazon. They must correct this mistake as soon as possible.

Just had the exact same thing happen, 703 down to 278. I have a shipment arriving any day now (already overdue) that's going to take me to 520 ish. They've given no time to react, can't even request extra space for May. I can't remember the figures exactly but sure my May limit was estimated around 600 on Thursday when I last checked.

@Bryce_Amazon

Come on, do your job. There is NO WAY Amazon should reduce storage limits by 70% and give sellers 3 days to adjust. Even you must realize this is not right.

Same scenario here- we went from 950 cubic feet allotted down to 185 for May, June, July and currently using 600 cubic feet- we have orders we just paid for this week and now can't bring them in ?

This is ridiculous and so frustrating-

does this have to do with the tariffs, stocking up for July Amazon deals and trying to weed the smaller companies out or what ?

This all seems very strange.

That said, Amazon has "lost" tens of thousands of dollars worth of our FBA products, for which they've refused to provide reimbursement. From the discussions on this forums, it seem like Amazon has lost units from a high percentage of others' shipments as well. Will the clearing out of inventory in their FBA warehouses help them to locate sellers' previously "lost" inventory? If so, will Amazon do the right thing and credit the sellers with the inventory? How much effort will be done to make sure the rightful owners are credited?

@Bryce_Amazon Thank you for the response, but not interested in using the "CAPACITY MANAGER" TOOL. They want you to PAY A RESERVATION FEE PER CU FT for cu footage we had for free last month. I will just have to reduce my shipments to FBA. Dramatically. This will dramatically reduce my sales, and Amazon's commission, but at least we will be in compliance with these new reduced capacities. First a low inventory fee, and now a 70% slashed capacity. Which means we wont have room to restock the products that DO sell well, at a rate to avoid the low inventory fee. This is ridiculous. So in Amazon's perfect world, we have our storage cut by 70%, and have to PAY a storage reservation fee, and get charged a LOW INVENTORY FEE at the same time.

HOW THE HECK CAN YOU BE CHARGED A FEE FOR LOW INVENTORY, AND MAX CAPACITY AT THE SAME TIME???? ROCK, MEET HARD PLACE.

Honest to God, I have been on here 16 years, and am as organized as they come, but I am beginning to LOSE TRACK of how many different storage utilization fees they are beginning to charge. What's it up to 6, 7, 8 different fees now for storage? I LITERALLY SPEND OVER AN HOUR AFTER CLOSING EACH MONTH, JUST RUNNING REPORTS TO MAKE SURE/RECORD WHICH STORAGE PENALTY FEES I COULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH. SIMPLICITY HAS BEEN LOST ON AMAZON. IT'S BECOMING TOO COMPLICATED TO KEEP UP WITH.

Any updates on this, have capacity limited been changed in any way?

@Bryce_Amazon is useless, can not believe he even bothered posting without any due diligence or actual work. I would say shocking, but unfortunately pretty par for the course.
