Buy Box dropped from 70% to 15% in 2 days

I’m all FBA, and through regular price checking and competitiveness I’ve kept my Buy Box at 50% or more of my products since I started in 2018. Till a couple of days ago, when I logged in to see it had plummeted to under 15%. Nothing much changed; in several of the items I am still the lowest priced supplier. My Performance is all good, feedback 100% positive. I messaged Amazon and got the reply of “Buy Box is an automated function without human intervention…there is no guarantee of winning the Buy Box…we have investigated and found you are not being excluded from the process because you are still eligible”

My sales have collapsed along with Buy Box losses. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

The algorithm changed 2 or 3 days ago to favour FBM sellers. I’m guessing this is so that Amazon have less picking, packing and deliveries to sort at the warehouses. I expect it will change back when things start to get back to normal.

Our FBA sales have dropped from 20-50 daily to zero, with no sales for 3 days.

NicheAtHome, your answer seems to make the most sense; they want to focus FBA warehouses on essentials during the virus lockdown. You said straight out that the algorithm changed 2 or 3 days ago - can I ask how you knew that?

I wish Amazon had just told me the reason when I asked, rather than sending those canned responses.

I was the same, I researched it and found that because my FBA had dates way into April, FBM was taking over the buy box. I don’t know if it was just coincidence or what but thats what I seemed to find with the majority of my listings

Hi
We saw a crash in FBA sales from the 22nd of March when delivery dates on most of our stock went to 28th April. The algorithm changed this Sunday to prioritise FBM when we saw our duplicate fbm listing in the buy box at the same price as the fba listings and FBA listings way lower due to late delivery times.

Fully FBA here too! Still have my Buy Box at a high rate despite the fact that the shipping time is 1-month or so and sales have dropped. However I can see few listing with a delivery time of 1-2 weeks time. Is it because they have better sales or being FBM sellers and provide faster delivery?

I believe rather than competing with FBM sellers, Amazon changed the Bbox algorithm, opening the Buy box more to FBM products to lessen the strain on themselves and their logistics system.
This allows the fullfilment centres free to concerntrate on the essential items needed by govt. bodies and large corporations as well as those most vulnerable who are totally housebound.

Does the buy box mean anything?
I post my own items, my buy box goes from between 82 to 100% but I have had days on 100% where I have not sold a thing and down at 82% where I have had sales.

No. Definately can’t think of anything that has changed recently. No Definately not.

Definately can’t think of any catalogue restrictions and changes to supply rules ATM.

Is this some crap April Fools gag? If so I don’t get it.
