New account under review for 10 WEEKS! Is this normal?
Hello all - I opened a new seller account on 1 September.
After sending in the requested documents, on 18 September I received an email with the subject: “Your information is verified – Start selling on Amazon now”.
On 26 September my account was suspended/deactivated and remains so today.
That’s 10 WEEKS it’s been under review!
On 1 October I received an email stating the following:
"We need more information from you before we can complete your account verification. Please reply directly to this e-mail to confirm the information listed below.
The scope of your trading activity:
– Confirm the scope of your business."
I sent in that information on 8 October.
On 16 November I received the “Your information is verified – Start selling on Amazon now” again.
My account status says “valid”, but there are 2 notices on my home page saying:
“Amazon has suspended your seller account” and “Your account has been deactivated.”
I am at my wit’s end. I have contacted the help department a couple of times but they don’t seem to know what’s going on.
I have complied with all requests for information.
I have received several emails saying someone will contact me “in less than 12 hours” but I’ve heard nothing.
I have no idea what I have done wrong, if anything.
I have never had a seller account on Amazon before, only an account I use for buying stuff.
According to the help page on seller verification the process should take a maximum of 20 business days:
"How long will it take to verify my information?
After we receive all of the required information, it will be verified as soon as possible, usually between 5–10 working days. If we need additional information from you after we have completed our verification, it may take another 5 to 10 working days from the time we receive the additional information to complete the process."
I am so frustrated and bitterly disappointed with Amazon.
I have been a customer for 20 years and was a raving fan of the company. But I feel like I am being treated with contempt.
If anyone can offer any advice on how I can find out what’s going on, or if this is just the normal process, I would be very appreciative.

Unfortunately, as you have found out the maximum times indicated by Amazon are inaccurate, however if you have heard nothing back in some weeks then it is time to prod them by emailing the verification team [you cannot call them] and asking for an update.

I’m in a similar situation. My process moved along a little faster, but I did end up in the same place - a deactivated account. I don’t know what I did wrong during the validation process to get deactivated. I have appealed the deactivation and have opened multiple cases. Unfortunately, I have had NO feedback from the appeal or the opened cases (the cases are all in “transferred” status).
I’m curious on how you managed to get a response at all.
So, I have three questions…
1 - Is there a way to reach out to the validation team (or anyone) that can provide assistance?
2 - To the original request, how long should we wait? Weeks? Months?
3 - I’m wondering if I should just cancel the account and start over. Any advice on that course of action?

Just received an email today saying: “Your selling account on Amazon platform has been activated now.”
The notices on my Seller Central home page have gone.
I am so relieved, I can’t tell you!
