Applying to sell branded products
When you apply to sell a branded beauty product there are a few different types of application.
- I am asked to provide an invoice from a manufacturer or distributor
- I need to answer some bullet point questions about my understanding of Amazon policies and confirm that my products are authentic.
Does anyone know whether the type of application reflects how strict the policy is? (i.e. no. 2 is less likely to lead to violations than no. 1)
For number 2, do you still need approval from the brand owner to be able to sell the product?
Thanks in advance for any help

1 is more to prove to Amazon you sourced your products from a proper supplier (i.e. not a retail shop)
2 is likely to lead to violations if the brand does not want you selling their items. Just because you have been able to buy from manufacturer/distributer does not automatically give you the right to sell on Amazon. There are many brands who do not allow it at all or who only allow a select few sellers
Go back a step - first enquire from brand owner/manufacturer (sometimes manufacturers license brands) if there are any restrictions on the marketplaces you can sell in. If they say no - then ask them to give you a letter of authorisation (you will need this for Amazon)
Once you have the required permission and the LoA, then source your products from manufacturer/distributer and obtain a valid invoice which clearly shows your name and address (which should match your account details with Amazon) and the products.
Then and only then apply first of all to ungate the beauty category with Amazon (this is when your invoice will be needed). Then once ungated, list your products Amazon - at that point Amazon will ask to see the LoA.
I really wouldnt try to list until you have completed all the above steps.

Hello @Trading_JMP,
This is Noor from Amazon to assist you with your query.
We understand that your concern is on proving the authenticity of the branded products that you wish to sell on Amazon.
As correctly mentioned by @Simply_NikNaks1, it is really important that you have brand approval before selling the products on our platform.
Do ensure that you have valid documents like:
- Letter of Authorization:
- Rights owner’s brand or manufacturer MUST appear on the letter of authorization or licensing agreement.
- The letter of authorization or licensing agreement come from the original reporter or the brand if the reporter was an agent.
Request you to review the policy page from Amazon Anti-Counterfeiting Policy to understand our policy.
Note: Selling branded products without valid approvals can lead to account deactivation as well.
For a more detailed conversation on the documentations part, you can also reach out to the Account health support team through the Call me now button available on the account health page.
Thank you @Simply_NikNaks1 for correctly guiding our seller on the concern
