Different prices for the same item on the same listing?
Hello,
I was always under the impression that you can only offer 1 price per listing for the same condition - e.g. you can only list something as new for one price on each listing. However, I opened a case with SS because a seller was listing the same item, under the same ASIN for two separate prices - both in new condition, one for £21.40 and the other for £32.00.
Then I got a call from Seller Support to tell me that there is nothing they can do, as it is perfectly fine to sell the same product at different prices. He went on to add that each customer can decide for themselves how much they want to pay and surely they will choose the lower price.
This came as a shock to me and he even recommended we should also list the item at multiple prices to potentially boost our sales?!
Is this not a forbidden selling practice under the Amazon guidelines:
Sellers should not create separate listings for identical copies of the same item. Individually listing the same item several times is confusing for buyers and frustrating for other sellers. Sellers must use the quantity field to offer multiple copies of the same item, and only list separately if offering the same item in different conditions.
Or am I just interpreting this wrong and are we allowed to list more than once on the same product page? Surely if nothing else this could be considered Misuse of sales rank as the more prices you have on each product, the more likely you are to get into the buy box often.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks
P.S.: I realise that the quote from the policy is probably more relating to creating totally separate listings but should that not be considered similarly?

Unfortunately you cannot rely on Amazon Seller Support team for accurate or correct advice as it is against Amazon’s policy to list the same item in the same condition at different prices. It always amazes me the way they contradict their own terms and condtions and policy.

Without knowing the ASIN, it’s is difficult to say exactly.
You can have multiple pricing based on the same condition if you have different fulfilment methods - e.g. FBM, SFP, FBA and S+L.
It Is true, you should not have multiple prices for the same condition and the same fulfilment method, but it has been known - for example due to ASIN merges. As a seller you should remove one, but sometimes you are not aware that it has happened.
