I sold a low price DVD to a library,I enclosed the usual packing note with all details of price and posting etc.
The buyer messaged me asking for a VAT invoice,as i am NOT vat registered i told him i can only give a NON vat invoice which i already had enclosed with the item.
I have also uploaded another NON vat invoice to his order (PDF)
NOW amazon have got involded asking me to send a VAT invoice.
any kind advice?? thanks

Tell Amazon firmly that you are not VAT registered and cannot issue VAT invoices but have supplied a non-VAT receipt as required by policy, and give a link to the policy or announcement

What did they actually say - was it just a message passing along what the buyer said to them?

I suspect this is coming from someone in the library who has been told by “Finance” or “Audit” that they must always get VAT receipts/invoices, even though they can’t have one in this case as no VAT has been charged. Surprised, though, because books are zero-rated so if the library does also buy books, the invoices for them won’t be VAT invoices, either

A packing slip isn’t really a proper receipt/invoice.
If the buyer account is registered as a business you will need to upload a proper receipt/invoice within 24 hours of the order or your account will receive a warning.
There are plenty of easy invoice generators out there you can use, search the forums for invoice generation non vat.

go to settings, top right hand corner of screen
click on account info
middle bottom of this screen, vat calculation settings
right top box on this screen, click on declare your status
amazon will now generate receipts for you, after verification
i did this a few months ago, but have just noticed that it is not active til the 15th this month,
which explains why i’ve had a few people asking for invoices
