How to match a product from a supplier to with an ASIN
Hi guys,
When going through a wholesalers price list spreadsheet, since there are no images of the product in the spreadsheet, how does one ensure the product is an exact match with a product on an amazon listing? Especially since most of the EAN's / Item model numbers on listings aren't usually correct/reliable, being made by 3rd party sellers.
Moreover, product titles matching between a wholesaler and amazon doesn't always garuntee its the same product. I find without an image (which is, understandably, never provided in spreadsheets), there is no way to confidently match it to a product on amazon?
How do other poeple overcome this issue? If anyone could kindly advise then that would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

Surely the wholesaler provides an EAN and that is what you search for. Can you not search for the item on the wholesaler's website using their own SKU?

Hi,
Yes the wholesaler does provide an EAN however its difficult to match it to a listing on amazon as the EAN on amazon is often incorrect.
In terms of being able to search a product on a wholesalers website, my current wholesaler wont give me access to the website login until i make an order using his 'spreadsheet price list', and in the spreadsheet there are no images of the product so i cant match it to amazon listings, and i cant match amazon ean's to my wholesalers ean's in the spreadsheet bc most ean's on amazon tend to be unreliable/wrong. So together this makees it impossible for me to buy from the spreadsheet and get access to the website.

If the EAN on Amazon does not match the wholesaler spreadsheet then it is likely the EAN on the product will not match that on Amazon.
EAN's on Amazon are correct where the product has been listed correctly. If they are not correct it probably means the product has not been listed correctly. This could mean the product maybe removed by Amazon at some point as the EAN does not match the product.

You’ve got two choices really
Avoid the wholesaler
Assume the EAN is correct. I would say as long as the brand is correct and the quantity you should be OK
