Add a Variation to an Existing Listing
Hi,
This is our product - B07K26SS1V that currently has no variations.
We have 2 new designs about to arrive, of the same products (just different colours) and we don’t know if it is possible to add these to the existing listing and to keep our reviews and sales rank etc? I have tried to edit the product and there doesn’t seem to be a simple way of adding any variations?
We have found multiple answers on the forums, and it looks like we maybe have to copy the listing etc, and I’m worried we end up losing the original.
Does anybody know if we are best to try and add the variation and how to do this, or just create seperate listings for each and try and build them up also?
Thank you for your help and advice.

Hi,
I would use a flat file to create the parent and link your current listing to it. Use update on the parent and partial/update on the child. Sounds complicated but it’s not and it’s worth learning how to do. Maybe pay an upwork freelancer $10 to do it and then you can see how it’s done.
Thanks

That’s great, thanks. We will try and find somebody to do it for us.
Do you know anything about whether it would maintain the reviews etc? Or would it be like starting again?
Thank you for your help

You can also do it by creating a new product, then add your exisiting item as one of the variations using the ASIN number instead of an EAN during set up.

Hi,
Quickest way withput doing csv file: add parent listing to amazon (Beeswax Eco Friendly Reusable Food Cling Wraps - Variety Pack 3 Sizes) - list as single item. Once it’s listed go into it, go to variation tab and add size/colours you want press add variation and in the bottom will ask seller sku, product id, price quantity. In these tabs populate your ASIN B07K26SS1V, you can add as many asins as you want. once you saved it products will start appearing as variation.
Hope this makes sense.

Copied this from a post a couple of years ago,it worked for me.
I had a Listing (let’s call it Listing A) with no variations.
I wanted to then create a new version for Listing A (let’s call it Listing B) and have listing A as a variation of a new parent - let’s call that one Listing Parent.
Here’s what I did:
Make current live Listing A Inactive (do not delete it!). Wait five or ten minutes for the amazon caching to update.
Clone Listing A - this will become Listing Parent.
Choose your variation type (mine was size).
Add your two variations, one for Listing A and one for Listing B.
For Listing A, set the same SKU / EAN as the disabled listing A.
Add your new SKU/EAN for Listing B on the second variation.
Check all the other details.
Save the result.
You should be asked if you want to merge the listing A with the old Inactive Listing - choose YES.
Wait five minutes again for the caching to update then update your inventory screen.
You should now have Listing Parent, with two variations: Listing A and Listing B.
