You will need to either request an exception or purchase the barcodes online.

It might depend on your definition of ‘making’ your product, if it I suitable to be listed in the ‘Handmade’ category then you may not need a barcode.

If it isn’t then you will need to register with GS1 to get your own barcodes. It is possible to buy barcodes on eBay but it’s risky in that Amazon may pull your item at some point in the future.
