Error adding new product with GTIN

Forgive me for the silly question, I’ve searched the current forums but haven’t found any solutions as of yet. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I currently have 3 products (kids golf magazines) on Amazon, and I’m trying to add a new product (kids golf board game) with its own GTIN purchased through GS1UK last year. I’ve checked the number and have also input it into the Amazon Product Identifier and it read the following:

Product ID: 50608******** is valid.
You have encountered a matching error. This type of error occurs when the product information partially matches the information on the detail page of an existing ASIN.
Make the required changes to match the information on the detail page, and try to list the product again or try adding this product by using the ASIN.
If your product is unique, make sure that the product information is different to the ASIN identified by Amazon.

It also read ‘The value specified is invalid.’ on the add new product screen.

I just can’t understand what it is I need to change to be able to create this new product. I welcome your assistance and support wherever possible.

My sincerest thanks, Thomas.

do you have a different barcode that you could use? It sounds as though this one may already be assigned to a product

@Amanda is right, someone else could have used those codes, it happened to me and I needed to obtain a whole new set from GS1 (no extra cost of course).
Try using a code from the back of your numberbank and then one from the middle.

If that doesn’t work i think you will need to raise a case to check whether the codes in question have been used before. They could even have been used on discontinued/deleted listings so you will not see that if you search yourself.

The only other thing I can think of is, is this recent product a different brand and in particular your brand that you have only just registered?

@Golf_Cubs_Ltd
Try @Amanda suggestion first

But can I also get my head round this?
You say that ‘Golf Cubs’ is your brand. Is it trademarked

You also say…

The magazines that you added…were they your brand ‘golf cubs’ magazines and if so, what existing listing did you add these to? Or were they an entirely different brand?

Looks like you may be getting to the solution to the problem, all I can add is is the SKU / Manufacturing SKU you use can also create this problem - Use EAN defo as Amanda says and make sure the SKU you use is not close to another SKU that you have used for the other 3 lines you have

Thank you to everyone for your efforts.

So, quick update…

I’ve been approved through the ‘Brand Registry’, which is good news.

I then went back to add new product with the correct details and using EAN as the selection, not GTIN this time.

I’ve a new error message come up now. I have contacted seller support as per their note, to state this product is not yet in the Amazon Catalogue and perhaps needs a new ASIN? I have detailed all other key info. to help them, hopefully.

Thanks again everyone!

when I enrolled in brand registry, I had to edit all my listings so that they were linked.
I just went to inventory, clicked on edit for each listing and then save and waited 24 hours.
Then all my products were linked

Quick update, I’ve opened another case following the Brand Registry. Amazon Support have been fantastic so far, but in order to combat the error 5461 they’ve asked that I send ‘real-life’ images of the product (i.e. the board game) into them, along with images of barcode on our brand. They said to expect to hear back from them in another 48 hours, hopefully with a result!!

Thanks again, everyone.
