FBA receiving quantity problems
Hi again
We are now a few weeks into FBA and the problems are now arising. We use Amazon sku labels which we download and print ourselves. Each time we have had the exact amount of labels from the download for the stock we are sending, which suggests that we are sending the amount we have stated (all items were counted three times also). The first shipment checked in as all okay 85 items expected and 85 items received. Now it’s showing as 85 expected and 84 received. The further shipments we’ve sent were done the same way and items also matched the quantity of labels downloaded. All other shipments we have sent since now show discrepancies too, one is showing 8 extra for one sku and there is no way we sent extra as we would have run out of labels and we box as we label.
Is this the norm? They are very small items and we can only think they have been miscounted on check in.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

I sell 99% FBA and these problems happen quite regularly (to put into perspective, probably 1 in 4 shipments has an “issue” of some description). The best thing is to just keep on top of everything. Make sure that AMZ reimburse you for the items that they’ve lost or damaged etc…
I had a shipment go in a couple of weeks ago for x30 units of a product. AMZ somehow managed to receive x45 (like you i print the correct amount of FNSKU labels etc…) I did the right thing and told them the error in their ways (mainly because that’s another sellers stock and I know how frustrating it is when they lose it) but as usual got the automated bot reply with little to no help…

This happens all the time with shipments into FBA
Often the quantities correct themselves by the time it comes to the reconcile date. If not you can often get a reimbursement for the missing items provided you have valid invoices.
If there are excess quantities of an item don’t worry about bad feedback if Amazon have to cancel the orders. This feedback will be striked through by Amazon as it is there problem.

It really is just one of those things. They do tend to correct themselves over time and nearly all of the time, you can get reimbursed for the missing items.
I’ve literally had 10 pallets of 4 fridges miscounted. Only 32 arrived apparently…
It’s human error, with a very big bias on the “idiots can’t count” part of that!

Hi all, not sure if this will help or not but I wanted to offer this piece of advice as it actually worked for me - long story short - we sent several SKUs into FBA several weeks ago and upon “receiving” the items they got two of the SKUs mixed up (they were manufacture barcodes so not a mix-up on incorrect labels or anything like that) and basically we had 102 units of one SKU and 0 of another instead of 40 of one and 62 of the other, and another SKU had allegedly 12 units missing entirely.
After several useless and frustrating attempts at seller support, I finally got through to someone who understood the problem and was very helpful (I know, don’t faint) - he told me to open a case and request a ‘bin check’ for these SKUS. Lo and behold, the next morning the SKUs had been corrected, including the missing one and were available for sale.

I’d estimate 8 out of 10 of our FBA shipments end up with items going missing.
Very frustrating and time consuming trying to get reimbursed for our “lost” items.

It happens to our too. It’s always 1 or 2 short, occasionally 1 or 2 more. We double count our units, so we know exactly how many we are sending,
The more worrying matter is that there is a new inbound shipment performance metric… and I worry about sellers being penalised for unit count issues caused by the checking in staff at Amazon.

happens nearly every time for me, they cannot count the first time, as they usually turn up later on as damaged in the warehouse,
does amazon sell your product? amazing how these losses are not regarded as a shipment problem?

My first shipment has just closed with the one missing item which was counted in originally but is now missing.
It’s a very low value item and I wondered whether it’s worth the hassle of opening an enquiry or if I should close it without an enquiry. If I just close it will it go against the new metrics that are coming in as an incorrect shipment?
From your replies I can see it is happening all of the time. Do you other sellers of really low value items open enquiries for all missing items or is it not worth it?
Thanks in anticipation, the help here has been invaluable!
