Read onlyHi,
I use click and drop, I have all my items sent by 24/48 hour service where the tracking number is placed into Amazon automatically.
I had a call from Amazon asking for me to improved my invalid tracking score of just over 80%, I told them the tracking numbers are valid, just royal mail does not always scan everything, the person on the phone told me I have to speak to royal mail about this, I told them it’s a huge company, they have a load of employees/postmen/postwomen, they are not going to start scanning everything just from what I say, what about if I talk to them and things don’t improve, the person on the phone said if that is the case I need to find an alternative company to post my stuff that does scan everything, the only companies that are alternatives are courier companies charging £2.58+ per package, I send 98% of my start using large lettering costing around £1.08, if I had to use the couriers, it would not only be a lot more slower but also I would not make any profit as I sell low cost items where many are priced at just £2 to £4.
I told them this is happening to everyone that uses royal mail 48/24 it’s all on the forums and she seemed to not have cared, I still have to make sure I improve my invalid tracking score or I lose my selling privileges.
I’m not sure what to do now. This is a bit of a joke. It seems Amazon is turning against all their sellers, with not only this, but also free returnless refunds is another huge issue that has just hit the fan.
Nothing. The people making the calls are given either a poorly written script or a poorly written set of talking points.
If the only issue is the lack of a scan then Amazon will verify them and take no action. They do still issue warnings though as the system is automated and they haven’t figured out how to unautomate it yet.
This is the most ridiculous answer that these phone operators are being told to say, via their script.
This has been a problem for some time and is likely to remain so for some time to come. At present, around 15% of Royal Mail staff are off work with either Covid or self isolating (at the latest estimate I saw). That means that not only do they not have time to scan everything they should, they don’t even have enough people to deliver / collect at all. We didn’t get any post yesterday and the box outside was not emptied either. We have received post today and the box has been emptied today but there won’t be any tomorrow. It’s no consolation to you, just an explanation of the sort of issues going on.
Honestly mate your not alone, I have a tracking rate issue also and when I noticed it about 3 months ago, it just fell under 95% so I decided to send everything with Royal Mail as Signed for, expecting things to improve, they actually got worse, my tracking rate is dropping, so then I switched to the over expensive 48 hour tracked, were talking about £4 per parcel, reducing my profits by about £2-3k per year and still my valid tracking rate has dropped, because the postmen/women are simply not scanning them or even worse losing the parcels.
So the only solution I have for you is to use amazons buy shipping service, I plan to use this for the time being until the “valid tracking rate” goes back above 95%.
This is the relevant part of the policy, it can be found under VTR policy FAQs. For anyone else concerned it might be worth printing out and keeping close for when you have a phone call. The emphasis is mine
- Check your tracking/parcel ID: Always make sure that you or your integrator provides the correct name of your shipping service provider, the delivery service used and the tracking or parcel ID. You may receive a Valid Tracking Rate warning as a result of low scan rate. However, we will validate ‘unscanned’ tracking or parcel IDs with the integrated delivery service provider prior to suspending your offers in the affected category. Your offers will not be suspended if you have provided valid IDs, including for all parcels that have not been scanned by the carrier. This includes delivery confirmation only delivery methods (for example, RM 24 / 48 or 1st Class 2nd Class). As mentioned in FAQ 3, postage stamps and other untracked services are not taken into account when measuring your Valid Tracking Rate.
By the way, if we think RM are having problems…
