EPR / LUCID Number requirements
Hi Guys,
Does anyone yet have a Lucid number for the upcoming requirement for German & French sales yet, i have applied by as yet not had a response
I am not even sure i require one as the wording seems unclear to me, on EPR Services on Amazon page it says you will have your listings blocked if the number is not uploaded however later it says this only affect certain categories ( Packing, Batteries etc ) - does this mean the listing is blocked if you are selling products in the packaging category ie cardboard boxes or mailing bags into these two countries only or an i miss interpreting ?
Thanks

I hope someone can come back with a more definitive answer as I read it very different to you. I read it that the packaging of any product was requiring a lucid number.

Hi,
I have registered on LUCID central packaging register on their website and received my registration number soon after registering and filled in amazon seller. Login to LUCID it will show there registration number there. You must get registered before 7 July otherwise they can impose big fines when you sell in Germany and France.
Thanks.

I signed our company up last night as I cant get a LUCID number from our bottle manufacturer here in the UK and don’t want to have our listing turned off. Its all a bit frightening but it looks like we have no choice and the German market is not the only place that this is happening, its dur to land here in 2023, so hold on to your hats. I followed the link to this site and registered https://lucid.verpackungsregister.org/ this gave me a DE??? number which I have entered in to Amazon, but I am struggling to find how to do the same for France as they have UIN numbers and the link on Amazon seller account takes you to the same place as signing for Germany…

Found a simplified breakdown of the Germany rules here: https://www.fastpackfba.co.uk/fba-resources/pan-eu-selling-de-extended-producer-responsibility-epr-lucid-number
Not so sure about France

Hi,
Just go with the flow. Get registered on LUCID first for Germany. France has not started yet receiving registrations.

This is where you register and get yorw DE number.
This is where you report what EPR applicable items you put into the German Market. And where you pay the fee they will calculate.
You then have to go back to https://lucid.verpackungsregister.org/ and tell them just what you told http://reclay.de about your usage.
The DE Number from LUCID is only the half of it they want you money as well.

The information isn’t as clear cut as you would expect. The information makes no reference to volume or whether its worth registering for such small volumes of sales in Germany.

I’m adopting a wait and see attitude. With inflation on the rise everywhere extra costs for the end consumer in Germany and France may make them think twice. I’m very reluctant to volunteer for an open ended tax in a foreign country. How can you judge the price structure if you don’t know what the cost is? I’ve already been severly stung with being charged twice for customs since brexit. There is a real danger of being taxed twice if the UK goes the same way. Once on import and once on export. The crazy thing is Cardboard and paper is actually a valuable commodity which more than pays for recycling it. Although the sentiment is noble and just, the implementation is far from it. Small sellers will leave Germany and France in droves. So I do wonder if big business is behind this fiasco.

Can I please confirm something with anyone that has successfully regsitered in Germany?
We have the LUCID number with I have submitted to Amazon (Pending approval)
Have not yet registered or paid with a partner company.
Does the LUCID number have to be submitted to the partner company? How does Amazon actually check that you have paid if it is just asking for the LUCID number?
