Listing error GTIN does not match this product
We bought a clothing category product from a UK wholesaler that comes in 6 different colours. We tried to list it with the EAN barcode and create variations using our own EAN numbers because all colours had the exact same EAN barcode. This was why we tried to use our own EANs but received the error:
“You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list. If you believe you have reached this message in error, please contact Seller Support.”
Seller support asked for screenshot of error, authentication letter from manufacturer etc, etc.
We explained that all colours had same barcode. Seller support asked for brand name, images of product with barcodes, proof of barcode etc.
We sent images, we gave them the barcode and a link to Gepir to check the barcode and brand name etc.
We thought we were getting somewhere but when they responded they have come back with almost impossible conditions. We have added their latest response below. Is it even worth while trying to resolve this? Or is their another way to list variations of these different colours without EAN?

Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,
I request you to provide the following information so that we can help you with an accurate resolution.
- Error Message or Screenshot of the error message for the same.
- Brand Name
- UPC/EANs
- Market Place
- Submission_Id (if available)
- Proof of authenticity of the GTIN (as mentioned below)
- Valid affiliation Proofs
Proof that the legal entity on this certificate is related to your brands such as a copy write, trademark, or website which displays your products or brand and references the legal entity.
- If you are not the owner of the brand, please provide:
A copy of a letter or legal agreement from the manufacturer, or brand stating that the GTIN you are using to list this product is valid and owned by them OR that you are allowed to use your own GTIN to sell unique products with their brand. If you are using your own GTIN, the letter should establish that there is a relationship between the legal entity associated with your prefix and the brand. The letter must also include the point of contact at the brand or manufacturer that Amazon can contact to verify, this can be found in the footer.
AND
If you are using your own GTIN to sell unique products with their brand, please provide a copy of the certificate issued to you by GS1 showing your legal entity and associated GTIN prefix(s).
Once you write to us with the required information which is, we shall hurry to assist you.
Looking forward to your response.

Please note that each variation will require it’s own product identifier. The barcodes need to be purchased from GS1.
If you are unable to provide them, I would advise you to consider applying for a GTIN exemption:

Hi there
We have been having the same issue when trying to list new branded items (brands that we have stocked for years). The issue seems to be with what you put in the ‘Brand’ box. The only way round it we have found is by doing the following.
You are trying to list a jacket with the brand ‘Smith’. Rather than putting Smith as the brand we put Jacket by Smith, it seems to then accept any EAN Barcode without a problem, so you should be able to use your own EAN’s for the colour variations.
Hope that helps
