Authorised brand user unable to list new products

I have been invited to be an authorised brand user for a brand I have been selling for 7+ years on Amazon and other channels.

I accepted the invite and was confirmed via Amazon brand registry to be an authorised brand user and set to work listing products from this brand owner. When I attempted to make a new listing, I received error code 5641, informing me that I was not authorised to list products for the brand in question but can sell existing listings. This is the same level of authorisation I had previous to being accepted as a brand user so there appears to be no gain for seeking and attaining authorised seller status.

I raised a case stating that I was an authorised brand user via Brand Registry and questioned why I was not able to list this brand on Amazon, the pertinent part of the response is given below:

We would like to inform you that, The Brand benefits is available only if you own a brand yourself or are an employee of the brand that’s responsible for selling its products on Amazon. We were unable to verify that you meet these requirements. Therefore, we cannot authorize you to use this feature.

I am perplexed, as my understanding was that once I was a registered brand user that I would be able to list new lines using the manufacturer eans and product offering. The brand owner does not list on Amazon and have no desire to do so, they are happy for me to do it, being a trusted long term client and with a solid history of selling on the Amazon platform.

Is this correct? Can only the brand owner list products on Amazon or have I been mis-informed by brand registry? Is there a way that I can seek authorisation from Amazon to make new listings as requesting authorisation one line at a time is the least efficient way of expanding my catalogue on this platform and I am unlikely to seek this as a viable solution.

Is there anyone out there who is not a brand owner who can freely list new lines as an authorised user? I would greatly appreciate hearing how and if other sellers in a similar position found a way to list new items. Thank you.

Unfortunately I have not found a way round this issue.

I buy goods from one company that holds several official licenses to make goods for several well known brands. Yet whenever I try to create a listing I have to go through the same process each time and supply a Letter of Authority - even though Manufactuer/Brand attribute is the same as an item previously listed.

OK - my issue is slightly different in that I have not been added as a registered brand user (and yes I would have thought that would help in your case). I have asked the company to register themselves as a Brand - but they are reluctant to do so - and anyway they make licensed branded goods so the Manufacturer is not really the Brand.

Hello @ Serendipity_Gifts

I guess you have reviewed Brand Registry roles already. Posting a link in case you have not verified this information before.

Are you registered by the Right Owner in one of those roles?

Kind regards,
Julia.

Good morning @ Serendipity_Gifts!

I can see, that you are a registered agent for the brand, but there are other sellers registered for the same brand and in different roles.

I think, that the best idea is to contact the Seller Support, who will provide you with more details regarding documents and possible change of the role. Unfortunately, I don’t have resources to check it for you.

Best of luck and have a great day

Julia.
