Order Cancellation Request

Received an email today from Amazon for an ‘Order Cancellation Request’ for an item which was delivered 9 months previously.

In the seller dashboard, under ‘Buyer Messages’ I see the order cancellation request with the comment ‘Ordered in Error’. However that’s just a message with the usual option to reply or ‘no response needed’.

Going trough the help pages, it seems to suggest I should handle the cancellation in the ‘Manage Returns’ section.

However, I have no returns showing on that page. If I enter the associated order number I get “Your search did not match any return requests.”

Any idea what I’m supposed to do?

Nothing. If the order was 9 months ago it’s long past the point of being able to open a return request.

Probably best just to respond and state that as the order was placed 9 months ago, it’s no longer possible to cancel this order.

Make sure that the “Date range” in the “Manage Returns” section is long enough to show you orders placed 9 months ago.

The last one I got had an auto response button at the bottom that allowed you to send a reply saying order can’t be cancelled as already shipped, is that available to you?

Double check that the Buyer hasn’t also ordered something from you more recently on a different Order ID.

We’ve had buyers contact us with the order ID being for a sale over a year before but they were referring to a more recent transaction and had either themselves selected the wrong Order to raise the issue, or an Amazon Customer Service rep had selected the wrong one when forwarding the case.
