HMRC & B2B with Amazon
Having read some posts on the forum here over the last few weeks, I have some questions of my own regarding HMRC & B2B with Amazon.
Currently I am employed by a retail company and I decided to sell items I bought as a business on Amazon. I believe from reading other posts its best to get in touch with HMRC about UTR numbers, registering a business (with company house) etc. I googled this and came to a long page of contacts for them, which category do I select to make sure I do everything above board and legally?
Thanks for any help.

So thats techincally 2 separate things
You can either register your company as a ltd company (usually with yourself as the director) and this is all registered on Companies House
The other alternative is to register with HMRC as a Sole Trader - this is where they will issue you with a UTR number - there is no need to register with Companies House as this way you would not be a Ltd Company
Have you got an accountant ?

You do not need to register with company house unless you specifically want to be a limited company.
You have to notify HMRC that you are now trading as business, and they will post you out a letter with your UTR.

Just to help you, the products you bought as a business, were they from a wholesaler or distributor? Are they branded items (as this could also impact your ability to sell the product if the manufacturer has a block on the product being sold on Amazon).

Hi Folks,
Thank you all very much for taking the time to respond to me, I really appreciate it and it has helped.
I have now decided and I’ve just finished submitting the application to become an LTD with Companies House.
@BabyBelle - No, they are glass bottles bought plain from a bottle manufacturer and I buy the lights from elsewhere to add to them. In the future, they will have designs on them which will be done by me. Thank you for your comment, it’s always important to keep that in mind.
Once again, thank you all kindly for your responses.
