What happens to inventory when merging ASINs?

Hi, my business has switched suppliers for one of my listings and decided to create a new EAN for the product to help with inventory control and identification.

We need to create a new listing. Brand Registry Support have suggesting creating the new listing and then merging the ASINs - the old with the new. I still have inventory in stock for the old ASIN. Does anyone know what would happen to that inventory after the merge? As I assume that FNSKU and ASIN will no longer exist.

Thanks

Assuming that you actually mean an FBA listing and they actually allow you to do this (no guarantee they will, even though you have been told this). Then the stock will simply be moved to the merged listing.

But don’t rely on what support tell you, as more often than not, they have a habit of telling you what you want to hear.

Just make sure the Brand Name is the same, otherwise the merge of ASINs won’t be processed.

Once merged the stock is automatically linked to the new ASIN.

If you have stock or listing on each ASIN you will notice 2 offers on the merged ASIN.
