£1 + £27.99 delivery
One of the many things that annoy me on Amazon, people that price the item for more or less nothing and then charge a huge amount for delivery. Why are these types of offers allowed and what’s the point? Anything I am missing?

I would pay no heed, these days it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever.
I seem to remember, that at one point, it would mean that the offer would show prior to others. But now it doesn’t at all.
So it boils down to idiots, who haven’t got a clue, or who think that they may trick someone into buying.
In fact these days, it’s the antithesis of sellers, with the emphasis very much on free delivery.
And all it will do, is annoy customers.

Thanks, I was just curious because some prices just look bizarre. I was thinking more or less along those lines, it doesn’t seem to give them any advantage and as a customer I would think they are trying to trick me.

I saw a greeting card the other day for 1 pence plus £9.99 postage.
What annoys me most is the way Amazon display it in the search results as it looks cheap as the postage is not obvious.
Not sure how it can be controlled though. Some products especially large furniture may warrant a high delivery charge.
The only other option would be to make everyone offer free postage to mainland UK. Not sure this is fair and may disadvantage some sellers who can sell multiples of an item for the same postage as a single.

It might also be international sellers who’ve expanded out from another site, but the simplest way to do it is to convert the product price, but alter the Shipping Templates with the more expensive international postage.

Actually, look at this, my offer which is £2.99 with 1 day handling time is not even visible.
And the £1 offer delivers by April 3 - 4, mine is March 31 - April 2, yet they come before me. The Buy Box goes to the Prime offer obviously.

I think it used to be common on eBay where you weren’t charged fees against shipping.

Never ceases to amaze me what people will buy in bulk.
It always makes me smile when I sell 2 or 3 of the same card, but the odd time someone buys about 10.
Why someone would want 10 identical birthday cards I have no idea… but some people do
So even if its something that you wouldn’t expect to buy in bulk… it can still happen.
