Listing a new product

Hi,

I am trying to create a new listing for one of my products, this is a new line which has never been sold previously, however I get this error message when trying to “save and finish”. Amazon help is suggesting it is conflicting with another product with the catalogue and I need to list this product then suggest changes to the catalogue, not sure if they understand how backwards that logic is as I am unable to complete the listing. Any help would be much appreciated. Just for arguments sake I even tried to list under a generic brand but had no luck that way either.

Thanks

You would have to set the title to be the same as the one it expects to be then try to update it or get seller support to update the listing once it is in your catalogue.

If you use the automated tool to change a product once it is in your catalogue. Try typing Change Product into the search box. This sometimes allows changes to be done to the product without seller support being involved.

Where are your barcodes from ?

GS1, we have provided Amazon with the certificates which show our prefix as well

Someone has used the barcode before to create a listing.

Perhaps GS1 has recycled the barcode or more likely another seller has just used a random barcode to list an item.

You may get some luck by going to seller support and asking if they can create another listing for the same barcode.

I will try this thanks, from your experience what is the likelihood of Amazon actually creating another listing? We already have the goods in and it’s all labelled up so would be a massive pain to have to relabel everything etc

I know they can do it but it depends on the support associate you get and whether they understand the issue you have. Based on recent experience they will probably just tell you that the barcode is unique to an ASIN and you can’t create a new listing.

The other solution would be to create the product with the brand WXQQ and then ask seller support to update the brand on the item. They may ask for pictures of your item with the branding and barcode showing to do this.

Just tried this and it doesn’t like the fact that my Title and some other fields don’t match up with Amazon already have on file, but looks like it might let me save and finish. Just worried Amazon won’t actually let me edit the details after I’ve created under the other brand with their title!

thanks so much for your help, to start off with i will try and see if GS1 can provide new barcodes as I have tried another 5 and they are all associated with this brand. That might be a more thorough fix despite the headache of having to relabel. If no luck that way then I will save the product as you have suggested and request catalogue change.

also slightly off topic but why is the issue surrounding the brand name and not the actual product ID if the conflict is with the barcode?
