Amazon has let a seller from South Ireland purchase a UK only item
I’ve sold an item, a reasonably large one, which I listed as UK only, as is the case with most of my items.
However, Amazon have let a seller from South Ireland purchase it. The item costs much more to ship and, if the item were to return it, I’d down that shipping cost anyway.
I’ve contacted Amazon Seller Support but they said something about Amazon Seller’s not being able to set where they ship, which is clearly untrue. I’ve emailed back, but has anyone found themselves in a similar situation?
EDIT: I messed up with the post. The buyer is definitely South Ireland, and I only ship to the UK.

Ireland IS ROI. Is this the cause of your confusion?
You said “most of your items”. Are you 100% sure this item was not available for Ireland?

This is the shipping settings for the item, and what I see if I go back in to edit the now closed item.

It’s definitely not - it begins with a Y, and I’ve also google searched the area, it’s definitely South Ireland. I’ll just have to keep plugging away at Amazon till they get the point. I think they only skirt over initial contacts and don’t actually look properly till you reopen the case.

If you’re using any kind of inventory management software to manage your Amazon account, you may have overwritten your shipping terms and templates.

Hi yes I have had this problem, mine came about because the buyer entered one of the new irish postcodes which was accepted as a UK post code.by Amazon. Just contact both Amazon Seller support and inform them that this is not a UK postcode and as such you cannot post by Royal Mail as it will not be delivered and contact the buyer informing them of the same and ask them that if they still require the item to request a cancellation of the sale and then to reorder without including the postcode

All shipping within the UK costs the same, with Royal Mail, and Northern Ireland is part of the UK.

Just a quick note, between 2012 and 14 I worked for a company that made unique food products. Only a few couriers would take food and the one we used charged a lot more for NI shipping. We tried to get the price down but simply couldn’t find a courier who would take food and not charge a fat load more for NI. Of course our website clearly stated the shipping costs to various parts of the UK, we didn’t get many customers from outside as although the products could be kept at ambient temp they had a very short shelf life.
Anyway we had one guy in NI who loved our stuff but the shipping charge was killing him so I put some research in and found that if he stopped ordering in bulk and then freezing the product until needed it would be cheaper to order more frequently in smaller amounts and send via Royal Mail. I went to the owner with this info and she told me that she didn’t have time to go to a Post Office just for this one guy. So I stepped in and said ‘well, you usually let me go to the PO to send my stuff [I was a registered business seller on Amazon back then, doing a £100-200 a week profit] or come in a bit late so I can post on the way to work, I can do the guys orders, I’ll just communicate this to him and we’ll earn goodwill and a very happy customer’. Which is what happened, until one day I had a hangover and was still feeling rough at the end of the day and completely forgot to ship his small box. Whoops.
A longer post than I intended but slightly amusing.
