Account Reactivation

I hope someone can help here. I’ve pasted below my successful appeal for funds disbursement which explains the situation after mistakenly opening two accounts. I’d like to now try and reactivate both accounts so that I can close one and resume selling with the others. These are the status of the two accounts’ appeals – I try and ask what Amazon wants from me, but get no reply from what I assume to be robotized system.

Each account shows no active violations to address and my bank account for Europe shows as Verified. So I am caught in a circle and welcome ideas as to what to do next – maybe using a modified version of my disbursement appeal would get read but I’m not naive!

Thanks - I’d really appreciate some thoughts and advice.

Steve

Thanks for the opportunity to explain the background to my request for funds. I am an author of three books that are published under my name Steve Saxty. These sell very well off my website. In September 2020 I decided that I should take the plunge and offer my first book, “The Cars you Always Promised Yourself” on Amazon. As an existing customer I opened a Sellers Account under my own name using my normal Amazon email address XXXXX@me.com and arranged the interview. During the interview I was sternly ticked off that I had used “Steve” not “Stephen” in my application – I was utterly unaware that this could be an issue since the world knows me as an author called Steve Saxty and that’s been my consumer log on name on Amazon forever. If there is a tiny complication it is that I have various email addresses and live in New York and the UK, holding bank accounts and phone numbers in both. I’ve listed them all below as ref – my endevour here being to provide the clarity requested.

_ _

_I successfully made the appeal for my Account name to be changed to Stephen, but weeks went by and I could not sell in the UK. Although I was allowed to sell in the American market my readership – and my books – are in the UK, it’s really the only market I am interested in. I tried writing to Seller Central, to ask why my account for Europe wasn’t opening. After several attempts I received no reply other than robotized requests for more (unspecified) info. I was probably far too eager and thought that my Seller Account was never going to work in the UK. That’s when I made my error, I opened a second one as Stephen (yes, I learned) Saxty using my YYY@icloud.com address. Now clearly, if I had the remotest sense that this would cause issues, I would not have done so. _

_Account Two opened very quickly for all markets. In my mind this confirmed that Account One had a back-end issue. This led me to assume – naively with hindsight – that I had found a solution that worked for Amazon, my readers and me. Then, to my surprise, Account One started working and my books immediately started selling. I was elated that everything was working. It now made sense to request the closure of Account Two, since it had no use to me or to Amazon and I could simply send an email asking, “Can we please close Account Two please as Account One is now working in the UK.” _

_ _

I look back and smile at my naivety at what happened next which – I now realize – was the inevitable suspension of both accounts. I persevered and kept sending in responses to the robotized requests for more info for both Accounts – every time I sent in bank statements, passports, etc and sadly nothing changed. Months passed by and I resigned myself to the horror that an innocent error had prevented me from selling a book on Amazon that I had spent years writing. It was heartbreaking but, it was my error, and I readily to admit that it was caused by my ignorance and over-enthusiasm to get started and I simply needed to move on.

_ A few months ago, in February my mother Jean Saxty suggested a solution. She had nothing to do in lockdown beyond being a prolific seller on eBay. She is exclusively based in the UK and offered to set up an account as Seven Spoke Publishing so that she could sell my books to UK readers. This made total sense to me and I wished her well, but she says that account is suspended. I don’t know why since as I’m not her, but I do want to try and be clear, honest and open. We are related, not as my agent but she is my mother._

Where does this leave us? I have two accounts, one of which I tried to close many times after submitting what feels like 20-plus attempts of submitting info. At present my accounts show no identifiable violations and my bank account shows as Verified. Therefore, as I have nothing to fix, I am stuck and can do no more – for if I knew what I should do I would surely do it. I’d love to the opportunity to work with Amazon to sell my books, but I’ve failed to find a way to resolve this after six stressful months of trying. This is why I ask for this disbursement – ideally, I’d love to be a successful author on Amazon. However, if this is not possible then I would like to request the funds from my sales.

_ _

As you’ll hopefully appreciate from this note, although innocent of any malevolent intent, I was unquestionably guilty of being over-eager to start selling. So far it has cost me six-month’s worth of sales that has severely impacted the hoped-for success of my second book. In that respect I have already paid a significant price for my well-intentioned error. I’ve no excuse, just merely that I’m an author that wants to connect customers with my books through Amazon.
