Amazon, please stop doing this especially just before Christmas!!!!

I have received a pile of emails complaining that they have not received their order, we all know why as they all ask me to expedite the order and are all identical. Some of these orders were posted 4/5 days ago, this time of the year they are not particularly late, Amazon and shoppers should know that the last few weeks before Christmas are always mad and delays are often the norm.

How am I supposed to expedite an order that was sent some days ago? I have no sympathy whatsoever for shoppers who buy Christmas gifts very late and then blame the seller if their mother in law has no present this year.

Totally agree.

I sometimes wonder if some people actually think! I have my shipping settings as 3-5 days (+ 1 day handling) for free 2nd class. So any received tonight at 11.59pm will be due by 21st December. It won't get in the post until the 5.15pm collection from post office near me on the Monday - what are the chances are that getting there by Saturday via 2nd class?!!

I do wish the cut off time would be something like 5pm and then move to the next day which would help, but midnight is Amazon's cut off time (unless it's my 2 day shipping which I can set myself).

I have a customisation (as Handmade) for optional 1st class postage, but on a few orders, I'm having to pay the extra to send items, which aren't cheap enough to not make any profit if I did this, via 1st class to ensure they will arrive and not be subject to a "refund as not arrived" message.

Unfortunately, the shoppers see Amazon's delivery times and think "oh that's alright then, it'll arrive in time" without even thinking that it's just Amazon's guess and reality at Christmas is obviously different.

it doesn't help when Amazon customer service agents are telling them their package may be lost when it's only been in the system for a week :/ I've had this more than once!

With Amazon buyers a late package can be an excuse to get a refund. Not helped by Amazons helpful messages advising packages are lost and you can claim a refund.

It is always worse this time of year as you get the last minute buyers who want it next day. I am getting a number of messages asking me to post items ASAP.

Christmas brings out the best in a lot of people but for online buyers it can also bring out the worst.

It seems like the holiday season is testing everyone’s patience, mine included! I’ve had two customers report that their items, which Amazon estimated would arrive by the 14th (Saturday), haven’t been delivered yet. Given the delays we’re all seeing this time of year, such as an 8-day wait for a 1st class Christmas card sent to me, it’s clear the postal system is under strain. Unfortunately, some people don’t seem to account for this when placing orders.

On eBay, someone opened a claim before 9am on the 12th for an item I posted second class on the 10th—before it was even due to arrive! If timing was that critical, a premium fast-tracked shipping option was available. But no, they opted for standard second class and still expected it to arrive faster than advertised, simply because they needed it urgently.

I understand the holidays bring stress for everyone, but it’s frustrating when unrealistic expectations are placed on sellers like us. A little planning ahead would go a long way for both buyers and sellers!

Im having the same issue. So many A-Z Claims even when items are in transit and also ODR (Even with Amazon Labels) I have gone from about 0.03% A-Z Claims to about 4%, its at the point my account is at risk. Keep appealing etc but Amazon doing nothing.

yup the Xmas thieves are swarming, several saying they needed items by Xmas and still hasnt arrived so refund. I check tracking and items were already delivered... they dont respond after you point out they received their item weeks ago. I use RM 2nd small parcel, wouldnt protect in an AZ claim but usually does get scanned and delivery info supplied.

Since switching to sending everything fully tracked before Xmas 2023 it has been a delight using Royal Mail (I am one of their biggest critics for most things, so this has surprised me massively!). I get barely any customers contacting me about where items are now, barely any lost items and pretty much no late deliveries. As I do a good volume the rate from RM isn't too much more than standard and I can no claim compensation on the odd one that does go missing. My ratings on Amazon are better as everything is tracked and delivered on time so my metrics and buy box chances improve. But the main thing is the lack of stress and wasted time dealing with customers. The dodgy ones don't try it on anymore and the ones that can't find their delivered packages soon realise it is in a "safe place" or delivered next door using the tracking info. If you can, go fully tracked. The price always put me off but looking back that was really short sighted of me - I struggled for 15 years without fully tracked!

AMAZON please stop doing this. AMAZON team - you said you was dealing with this on a different thread. How long does it take you to switch off this simple messaging system you are using. I am repetaing myself, but you are bringing out the worst in people. I can tell when customers are using your prompts because they write 2 words and it is always about 2 -3 weeks after the planned delivery date. Some customers back down, many don't. Costing us sellers £millions in total I bet. Really poor Amazon - will we be compensated for this when you finally see the madness of what you are doing?
