How genuine are authenticity claims?

Hello everyone,

Is it possible for buyers to claim an item is not authentic when they want to eat their cake and have it?

I’ll explain my suspicions. I have been selling perfumes since last year and never got a complaint. Lots of positive reviews etc

This year, Amazon reduced their price on one of the perfumes I sell (£10 less than mine) and once that happened, I got 3 authenticity claims!

I think they want the cheap price at my expense! They say it’s fake, return it, I refund and they buy from Amazon! (This of course is my overactive imagination at work)

I know my products are genuine.

What do you think or am I overreacting?

Is it possible to challenge an authenticity claim?

Thank you!

Lukzy

That is entirely possible and I would say probable.

Not much you can do about it I’m afraid.

If I could scare them by sending a letter stating ‘the manufacturer will be launching an official investigation and they may need to speak to the authorities to assist’.

If you mean the “Customer Product Authenticity Complaints”, which are shown on your Account Health page, these cannot be challenged or withdrawn by buyers.

Most of them require a Plan of Action and valid invoices or receipts, issued within the last 365 days.

Authenticity claims can be defended simply by providing genuine manufacturer invoices, Amazon will not accept invoices from Alibaba or Aliexpress or Retail/Wholesale invoices.

Amazon state;

Please attach copies of invoices or receipts in text files (.txt), PDFs (.pdf), Excel documents (.xls, .xlsx), or image files (.jpg, .png .gif, .tiff, and .bmp) directly to this email. The total allowed attachment size is 10MB.

Please make sure that the invoices or receipts include the following:
– Supplier information (name, phone number, address, website)
– Buyer information (name, phone number, address, website)
– Item descriptions (for ease of our review, you may highlight or circle the ASIN(s) under review)
– Item quantities
– Invoice date (must be issued in the last 365 days

These documents must be authentic and unaltered. We may call your supplier to verify the documents. You may remove pricing information, but the rest of the document must be visible. We will maintain the confidentiality of your supplier contact information.

It definitely happens.

I’ve has it several times merely to get me to pay the return postage - the buyer has no idea of the implications to the seller.

Might be the fumes from your perfume making you dizzy .
