I’m facing a confusing issue with my FBA shipment and would appreciate your insights or experiences with similar situations.
When attempting to create the shipment, I received this error:
"This product exceeds your current FBA capacity limit for Apparel storage. Expand Capacity Monitor at the bottom of the page to view the maximum shipment volume for Apparel storage." I opened a support case, and Amazon’s team responded, stating:
"Your proposed shipment would increase your usage to ~112 cubic feet, exceeding your capacity limit."
I’m attempting to ship 1,000 units of socks (two variations, 500 units each). These units are packed in 12 boxes, each measuring 25x21x14 inches. By my calculations: Box Volume: Each box occupies approximately 4.25 cubic feet and Total Volume for Shipment: 4.25 cubic feet × 12 boxes = 51 cubic feet
Alternatively, based on the Capacity Manager, 1 unit occupies 0.07 cubic feet, so, 1,000 units × 0.07 cubic feet/unit = 70 cubic feet
Using either method, my total shipment requirement should be 51-70 cubic feet. My current capacity usage is 0.07 cubic feet (confirmed in my Capacity Manager). My total capacity limit is 100 cubic feet. Even at 70 cubic feet (max estimation based on unit volume), I would still remain within my limit. I’ve requested clarification from Amazon on how they arrived at 112 cubic feet, but their response did not provide a detailed calculation.
Questions for the Community:
- Has anyone else experienced similar discrepancies between their calculated volume and Amazon’s reported usage?
- Does Amazon use additional factors (e.g., dimensional weight, packaging, or other hidden calculations) that might explain this discrepancy?
- How do you handle cases where Amazon’s Capacity Manager and actual shipment requirements don’t align?
Any advice, insights, or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your help.
