I Shipped Using Amazon Shipping and Customer Service is demanding I do a refund to customer.
I see this more often than I would like to see these days. I ship the item using amazon shipping it ships on time and the delivery is attempted at the correct time. The address is undeliverable. The customer contacts customer service and Amazon Customer Service tells me to refund the order. This should be covered by Amazon but customer service tells me to refund the order. I should not have to cover this why is this being told to me by Amazon Customer Service?

If you purchased the shipping label through Amazon Buy Shipping AND the item's first scan by the shipping company was on or before the ship by date for the order, then reply email to the customer to open an A to Z claim with Amazon as Amazon would be the one handling the refund.
If you did not use Amazon Buy Shipping OR the item's first scan was after the order's ship by date, you will probably have to do a refund.

To what Lost My Marbles stated above, I will add that the buyer will have to wait X number of days beyond the delivery deadline (three days I think) before they can file a claim.

Amazon CS is simply repeating what was told to them by the customer. CS, or so I have found, has very little idea about actual real Amazon policy. The assistance that you have heard here in the thread is the correct advice.
