Does my product need a box?
Hi All
Just joined Amazon so trying to get my head around everything…
I have a product that comes in a metal tin. Its a card game like UNO. The tin has the SKU printed on it. Do I need to then put this product in a cardboard box with another SKU on it?
I’m using FBA, so will they take the tin and put it in there own box/packaging?
Trying to work out if I need to ship it to Amazon in packaging, or do i just send Amazon the tins and they provide packaging as part of FBA.
Many Thanks!

Just read somewhere that you need to send items to FBA in a box.
So do I send my individual tins to Amazon in a larger box with a label on the box, then Amazon will them take an individual item out of the box, scan the SKU, then re-package it and ship to the customer?
Is this right?!?!

I think you’re making this a little more complicated then it needs to be. Yes, to get your items to Amazon you’ll need to put them all in a box. If you use UPS then you’ll get two labels to go on the large, outer shipping box - one address label and one FBA label.
Inside you’ll have however many tins you’re sending. Each of them will presumably have an FNSKU label. There are no specific prep requirements for your tins - other than being able to survive a drop test of 1.25m or 1.5m on all sides and one corner. So you could send them as is if the lids are relatively secure.
You could also polybag each tin to prevent scratches etc, or put them in small boxes if you want. Personally i’d be tempted to polybag.
Once your items arrive at Amazon they’ll be unpacked and every single item will be scanned. They then get distributed around Amazon’s network so that you always have a unit near a buyer (ideally). The individual items are stored as you sent them, minus the outer shipping box, and only put into Amazon packaging when being sent to a buyer.
