Goods lost at Amazon - no stamped BOL

Hi,

This is the second time this situation has happened to me over the past few years.

I sent 5 pallets in to Amazon a few weeks back. I packed the cartons myself and stacked / wrapped the pallets myself. I even took photos of the pallets when they were completed in case of any issues.

On one pallet, there were 16 cartons of one FNSKU on the bottom, 4 of a second FNSKU and 4 of a third FNSKU on the top.

The second and third FNSKU have all been scanned and gone into stock at Amazon. Of the first FNSKU, one of the 16 cartons has been scanned in, the other 15 cartons are missing. There was another error on this shipment because they assumed that all the cartons on a mixed sku pallet were of one ASIN and they weren’t - this has now been rectified.

I opened a case to investigate and Seller Support asked for a stamped BOL. I’ve asked my carrier for this (Palletline), they have a delivery note which has the XBH4 delivery address written on it and is signed, printed and stamped with the date and RECIEVED, but the weigh in weight and the Amazon stamp are not on it.

Palletline tell me that most of the time these BOL’s are stamped but this one isn’t and there’s nothing they can do. Through experience, Amazon won’t do anything about this without a stamped BOL even though it is obvious that this pallet got to them because some of the cartons (ones from the top of the pallet) have been scanned in.

I’ve noticed that although the pallets were actually booked in to XBH2, the address on the POD is XBH4 - I’ve no idea if this is something to do with why it hasn’t been stamped. Palletline have told me before that the Amazon warehouses are too busy to stamp the BOLs.

Has anyone else come across this issue? Is there anything I can do about it?

Many thanks, Damian

Just an update to this. I phoned the haulier company I use who have a Palletline dept. The manager there told me that since 2019, Amazon no longer require a stamped BOL when the drivers drop off a shipment. They sometimes do, sometimes don’t give one out, but Palletline are no longer required to collect one. This is the second person who has told me this, the first being a manager from Palletonline when I last had this issue a few years back.

So it seems that Amazon no longer require the drivers to collect a stamped BOL, but then insist on this stamped BOL if there is an issue.

It appears that my shipment was diverted too - the address on the POD I have is different to the fulfillment centre it was originally booked in to. The Palletline manager I spoke to said that the BOL’s tend not to be stamped if the shipment is diverted and also it seems that things are more likely to go missing when the shipment is diverted.

Cheers Neil, I really appreciate that. Have you ever claimed for losses successfully without a stamped BOL using this information?
