Your VAT number has been rejected on Tax Setting - Europe

Hello,

I just had 4 emails saying my tax number has been rejected. However on UK it says verified and no performance notifications anywhere. It’s 100% correct. I can therefore presume these emails relate to the other european countries. But I don’t sell to Europe anymore. Is there a way of switching off the European countries so I can’t get in trouble for not having tax numbers there anymore? I am worried they’re going to shut down my UK account even though that’s all hunky dory. Thanks for any help

This is the email:
Dear Seller,
Your VAT number has been rejected on Tax Setting. Invalid VAT number can lead to deactivating your selling privilege and or restriction on your Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) service. Please take action immediately to solve your VAT number issue.
Why did this happen?
Your VAT number information has been changed or needed updates to the Tax Authority.
Please remember that it’s the responsibility of each Amazon seller to ensure they are VAT-compliant and you should seek professional advice if you are unsure of your obligations.
What should I do?
Please contact your tax service advisor to solve issues and reupload the valid updated VAT number from Seller Central – Setting – Tax Setting – Add VAT numbers.
The verification process takes between 3-5 business days. Please keep monitoring on the verification status until your VAT number shows “Verified”.
What happens if I do not upload a valid VAT number in Seller Central?
If you do not have a valid VAT number in your VAT obligated country, your account might be deactivated. We explicitly reserve further rights and remedies should you not resolve this matter and ensure to comply with the provisions of the relevant agreements with Amazon which include the obligation to comply with any applicable local law.
We’re here to help
If you have questions about the information requested above, please contact us at Seller Central – Help – Need more help? (Get Support) – Selling on Amazon – browse for your issue in the menu – VAT and Tax – Tax/VAT questions.
For information on tax advisory firms with discounted rates for Amazon sellers, visit our VAT Resources help page (https://services.amazon.co.uk/services/fulfilment-by-amazon/vat-resources.html).
You can view your performance notification at (https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/performance/notifications ) or by selecting Performance and, after, Performance Notifications on the home screen of the Amazon Seller app on your iOS or Android device.
Thank you.

Sincerely,
Amazon Services Europe

Have you removed your eu vat numbers from your account ?

if all is disabled and you do not intend to go back there, then why did you remove this VAT number?

It could stay there for Amazon sake.

You probably be best off re-adding it to all eu accounts and just leaving it there. It will not affect your VAT return in any way, providing, that you will not sell there.

Hello @Rosary,

This is Ash from Amazon, and would help you with your questions.

I understand that you have concerns on the VAT as you have received the email on the performance notification.

Did you contact our concerned VAT team ?

If yes, kindly share the recent notification on this thread.

Regards,

Ash.
