Customer requested via message to change shipping address

Hi,

Hope some one knows the answer!

We had an order placed over the weekend and have received a message from the customer asking if we can ship to a different location.

2 questions:

Firstly, am I okay to do this? Physically yes, but is there some obscure rule that says I shouldn’t?

Secondly, if I do - will this give them a chance to claim items/s back as not delivered to the address on the original order.

Any info appreciated! I did search using the toolbar but no luck finding definite answer.

Thanks

No obscure rule, a very big and obvious one. Don’t do it! If you ship to an address other than the one on the order then you are not covered by Amazon’s payment guarantee. From a protection standpoint you might as well step outside and just give it to a random stranger. Only ever ship to the order address, even if SS forward a message asking you to change the address.

If they want it at a different address they need to cancel the order and reorder with the correct one.

Don’t send to different address ask the buyer to cancel and then ask them to put their new address in their amazon account and then they can reorder if you send to different address and they claim you will lose

HI that’s what I thought - but couldn’t remember where I had read it or if I was just imagining it.

Thanks - Will message buyer with instruction to cancel and re order with correct address!

Happy Monday all!

There is an inbound email subject which is ‘CHANGE OF ADDRESS FOR ORDER XXX-’, I believe you are still protected with those requests.
Anything else is risky, IMO
