Customer gave wrong address

Where do we stand if a customer gave us the wrong address so their order didn’t arrive (obviously) but they’re now asking for a refund? The tracking info hasn’t updated but usually if something is being returned to sender it would say so on there. Are we supposed to just refund it and hope that it gets bounced back to us at some point or is there anything that Amazon can do as it’s not our fault?

I’ve had this a small number of times over the years. Every single time Amazon have said it is our responsibility to ensure the address is correct, and yes I know how can we possibly right.

Especially when shipping 100s of orders via a bulk shipping process.

Then it is their error, and definitely not yours, and I would not be refunding - at least not until they have attempted to retrieve it, or it gets returned to you.
I would contact them and advise them to contact the address they did give and see if they can retrieve it.
Tell them that to comply with Amazon rules you have to send to the address provided by the customer in their Amazon account, and so there was no error on your part.

This could be an attempt at a scam.
Have they told you the address they meant to have it sent to, and is it vastly different to the address it did go to ?

It’s all automated and it wasn’t flagged as there weren’t any lines missing as they’d put their name in the in the first line of the address input

The way our order/shipping system works if there was a line missing from the address it would refuse to print the label so the warehouse would know straight away
