Why are some buyers incapable of understanding an email?
I’ve just got an email from a business buyer asking for a VAT reciept. Fair enough, it’s a reasonable request.
However, what is not reasonable is when they send the same email every week for three weeks in a row. I answered them the first time and told then I could not supply them a VAT receipt because…
a) I’m below the VAT threshold so no VAT has been charged, and
b) Because they are asking for the VAT reciept in their business name and address, which is different to the name and address on the order.
In the first instance it would be illegal to issue a VAT invoice and I’m pretty sure that also applies in the second instance too.
Why do some people just not get it?

The ongoing problem here is that Amazon do not actually provide us with ANY validated buyer information.
The buyer name can be Mickey Mouse (Yes, I have had that) and the delivery address is just that as even if it is being delivered to a company there is no guarantee that it is the same company that made the purchase.

I have the same problem.
Unfortunately, the Amazon Policy says that sellers are required to provide VAT invoices to business buyers.

Just mark the message as no reply required

Maybe that answer should have been
1: I am not VAT registered [as turnover is below the threshhold] therefore no VAT was added to your purchase.
And did you supply a receipt, but showing no VAT element?
Just because you cannot supply a VAT receipt does not mean you can’t supply a receipt as requested.
And on the receipt simply show the buyers address as well as the business address .
[If it is only the recipients address that is different then surely that isn’t unusual? Might they not have ordered the goods direct to the end user?]

If you are selling some items they do not include VAT, or if you do not pay VAT, the same thing, so you can raise an invoice, even if only as a Word Doc, or convert it to a PDF.
So show:
Your name and registered address (put in brackets NOT VAT Registered as that applies to you)
Their name as a minimum, although, I’d show the shipping address
Below that I’d put the Order number and date purchased.
For the item part show:
Item, eg: XYZ Book at £5.00
Shipping at £2.00
Total EXCLUDING VAT: £7.00
VAT: £0.00
Total INCLUDING VAT: £7.00
That way they have what they want an invoice that says £0.00 for VAT

You can use Express Invoice its free for small businesses very easy to use. Convert the invoice to PDF and attach this to message if invoice is requested.

I feel your pain @Blackadder.
I normally reply along the lines of.
Thank you for your purchase.
Unfortunately I am unable to provide a VAT invoice as I am not VAT registered and therefore I do not charge VAT. The docket you received with your order is sufficient for your accountant/finance department.
If you still require additional paperwork it will show the exact same financial details with VAT at £0.00.
If a receipt is still required I then do what @DIGITEL_TECHNOLOGY_1 stated.

As Amazon only show a shipping address, I’d just put the Buyers Name, plus the Business name and address that they require, with a disclaimer on the invoice, details as supplied by the customer.
Also, show shipping name and address, and add details supplied on Order by Amazon.
Covers you and they cannot claim back VAT anyway

I have had the EXACT SAME problem… buyer asking for VAT invoice, I reply, they message again… and again… and again… they do not see anything I say

We used to get these requests frequently.
We sent a receipt via Royal Mail to the name and address to which the item was sent.
A screenshot was also sent to the buyer email address.
We never heard anything more from any of them.
If we had got any hassle we would have raised it with SS
