Buy box percentage dropped from 98% to 60%

Hi guys,
I have a professional account subscription and all of my listings are FBA. I match the lowest price but the buy box percentage dropped from 98% to 60% recently. I never had this problem before. Do you have any advice? Many thanks.

Hi
Unfortunately there is not really enough information to go on to determine if there is an issue.

First of all I assume there is more than one seller on your listings and you are not guaranteed to win the buy box based on pricing alone. It could be down to a number of factors if you are indeed losing the buy box win percentage.

Other factors to influence the buy box, is the shipping time, premium shipping cost and cut off times, prime offerings including FBA and seller fulfilled. You may also have differing business price offerings for volume related discounts etc, again something that will affect the buy box win.

You can check your metrics and this will give you hints on anything obvious.

Amazon will still give the rub of the green even if you don’t necessarily have the best offering. Remember if you have 60 percent then that means your competitors have 40 percent and they could be doing all sorts to win the buy box by improving turnaround times, better offerings, premium shipping, or just bringing the price down, they wouldn’t have to be lower or match the buy box price to win the buy box all the time but just moving it down slightly will affect this.

The problem is with trying to win the buy box on being purely the cheapest is a race to the bottom and you could end up being a busy fool.

Take this as a positive as your competitors are teaching you the fact you don’t need to be the cheapest to win the buy box.
