How do I update old EAN codes with GS1 codes

I created many ASINS back in 2013 when it was ok to buy EAN codes on ebay/amazon… obviously now these listings are 6yrs old and im concerned now amazon are enforcing GS1 codes and I get an error message on these if I try to edit. So if I purchased codes from GS1 how do I update my listings as changing the EAN code is risky but if I create new listings Ill lose all rankings/reviews on existing ASINS. Has anyone done this to advise the best approach to not upset the apple cart?
Alternatively these items were handmade so could I just apply for exemption and if so how would I update existing ASINS if this is granted?

I am afraid it will be necessary to open a case with the Seller Support where you will provide them some proof of the identifier being related to the product and your GS1 certificate or a screenshot from GS1 showing that you are the EAN owner in order to proceed with the update.
