Buyer's Lazy Address entering

Does it bother any other “Seller fulfilled” sellers how so many buyers seem to not be able to enter their own address correctly?

They want everything delivered ultra fast and efficiently but spend no time to check their address is actually correct and understandable?

My number 1 annoyance is when they put “England” as the COUNTY.

Another is putting several lines/sections worth of information on a single line.

This is a made up address example:

“Mr Smith
3rd Floor’s Flat 9 The Mount Sea Road”

Does that mean: Flat 9, 3rd floor?

Or does that mean: 3rd floor flat, 9 The Mount, Sea Road?
etc etc

so annoying.

Don’t. Drives me bonkers every day. Have to google so many just to check if 15 Chancery lane Hill Street Bogwitch on the mount, Cam CA36sd is a street, house name, local area, town, etc. And they always forget about caps lock too. Least I can edit them. But a right pain.

Had one recently that had their tel no. as 5 random letters. How they got that entered I do not know. But the courier wouldn’t let me buy postage without a tel. and of course would not accept that input.

I routinely check such addresses here and add an extra label in the correct format, if possible:

I think the problem is partly down to the way Amazon gets buyers to fill in the info in the address field.

It drives me nuts! Out local Chinese takeaway validate addresses on their website, but apparently this is beyond Amazon?!

Yet when you create an MCF order it validates the address (to a point) so it must be in the system to be able to

Absolutely happens frequently. The system also allows them to not enter their full name or miss characters of the address or enter an address with additional wording which does not exist. We have had over 103 and now gave up counting.

When you look at the conditions of use and sale paragraph 6

You are responsible for ensuring that the details you provide us with are correct and complete, and for informing us of any changes to the information you have provided.

Also

You must not use any Amazon Service: (i) in any way that causes, or is likely to cause, any Amazon Service, or any access to it to be interrupted, damaged or impaired in any way, or (ii) for fraudulent purposes, or in connection with a criminal offence or other unlawful activity, or (iii) to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety.

Causing the seller annoyance because your expected to check the address then contact the buyer who does not respond to the message. Inconvenience because you cannot process the order waiting for response. then A-Z claim because the order did not reach them because the timeframe for processing the order.

Just wanted add one more issue. The buyer places an order does not respond to any communications and then writes a review saying he had not received his order. Well how can we resolve an issue when there no communication from the buyer.? A feedback system which damages the seller metrics and these people cannot do anything. Its unfair designed to treat sellers unfairly. Yet when they say Sellers are the Live Blood of Amazon… I find that hard to take in. Who waits 4 and half years and says they haven’t received their order? who waits 2 and half years and says can you change the delivery address because I haven’t received my order? Who alleges the product is defective and returns the with nothing wrong with it.

We have had to adapt addresses over the years as they enter their own postcode incorrectly which fails when its booked onto the couriers. Even when you ring them to double check they deny they have put their address onto their Amazon account incorrectly.
Often no phone number or one thats wrong as well - and just a 1st name on their account or one they have made up etc. Just part of dealing with Amazon:)

Had one a few days ago - flat 2, street name, town, postcode. No building name or house number. Checked RM’s database and I counted 34 flat 2’s on that street. Messaged buyer - no response so cancelled order as address undeliverable.

My absolute favourite address issue was when a customer contacted us as she wasn’t happy that her order turned up at her address (the address she provided on her order). She wanted it to go directly to her friend and she was angry at us because we didn’t send it there. I politely pointed out that we can only despatch orders to the address which the customer provides and that it would be impossible for us to know that she wanted it to go to a friend or where her friend lived without her providing that information to us. I also politely pointed out that she should have reviewed the shipping address entered before placing the order. Surprisingly she didn’t back down and then claimed that she added the correct address to her Amazon account about 10 minutes after placing her order. She may have done but I had to explain by doing so, she wasn’t amending the shipping address on an order already placed but was just adding an address which could be selected for future orders. Her final response was simply “you should have made that clearer”. I can only assume this was her first time ordering online.

I’ve just had a case on another site were the buyer put the wrong number of his own house into address the order had to be sent to. He said he checked with the house and they never received it and he wanted a refund. The other selling site stood with me and he was refused a refund as he put the wrong address that the order was to go to.
I am just stunned how do you give a wrong address especially if the numbers on a keyboard or keypad are not beside each other. Left me mystified and a new one for me.

A while back I got an irate call wanting to know why I’d put FAO and the single name left by the buyer. I explained that click and drop require both first and last names.
