UK v Global Product Issue

Hi,

I’d appreciate the thoughts of anyone with experience of the following:

We listed a product on Amazon UK (along with many others at the same time) whilst linked to sell globally on DE, FR, and IT. Somehow one single product in that list (ASIN B0855X9153) despite correctly listing on UK as “Big Laces Round White with Reflective Fleck 110cm Bootlaces” listed itself on the global sites under “Hiveseen Kinder Toilettensitz, Töpfchen Trainer WC Sitz für Jungen und Mädchen, Passt Auf Runde und Ovalen Toiletten, Ergonomisch Geformt mit Spritzschutz(weiß)” which is a childs toilet seat!!

The brand Hiveseen have (understandably I guess) filed an intellectual complaint against us through Amazon DE believing we are selling an inauthentic product (first we knew of the issue), but at no point did we attempt to list on their ASIN, it just appeared in the Amazon catalogue that way. Arguably we should have checked through the global listings and for that reason we have deleted all global items in case of other issues.

Amazon are requesting proof of authenticity etc but we are stumped what to do next as this appears to be a catalogue error. If anyone has experienced something simliar and knows a way out of the loop of explaining the situation to Amazon and being asked for proof of authenticity we’d be very grateful.

Many Thanks : )

Dave

This has happened me a couple of times, but only with products where the manufacturer has gone out of business. I’m guessing the EAN was reused by someone else for a totally different product. My product (or variation) is okay on one or more marketplaces, but not all marketplaces. I now regularly take a quick look at my inventory on all marketplaces to make sure photo matches title - not an ideal solution, I know, if you have thousands of products.

With regard to explaining to Amazon, I think that all you can do is state that it’s a genuine error and that you had no intention of selling a Hiveseen product, maybe pointing out that it shows as your product on your source marketplace? Do you have an EAN/GTIN with manufacturer proof linking it to your laces?
No doubt someone else can provide you with more specific advice.
