Brand Registry rejected - we have registered UKIPO trademark
Hello,
I am trying to register for Brand Registry with a newly registered trademark (registered last Friday 1/10/21).
Brand name on Amazon is “Candeo”.
Trademark is for “Candeo”.
Rejection message from Amazon says -
“We are unable to approve your application at this time due to the following reason:”
And then no reason is actually listed.
I replied asking what the reason was, and attached the certificate.
They replied with the same comment - “We are unable to approve your application at this time due to the following reason:” and then closed the case.
During application page I selected only my European market place (as we have the TM in UK only, and UK market place listed under Europe); added in the trademark number, the pictures, the distributor info…
And then rejected within minutes.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.

UK is separate now so you need a UK trademark to register for Brand Registry in UK and an EU trademark to register for Brand Registry on EU sites

When you say 'Registered last friday 1/10/21), do you mean you applied for the trademark on 1/10/21? The reason I ask is that I can’t find a UK trademark for ‘Candeo’ with a registered date of 1/10/21.
If you only applied for the trademark on 1/10/21, you need to understand that there’s a 3+ month process that needs to happen before your trademark becomes ‘registered’. As an example, we applied for one of our trademarks on 16th April 2021. The trademark actually become ‘registered’ on 27th August 2021, so 4 months later.
Until a trademark is fully registered, Amazon won’t allow you to register it for Brand Registry.

It’s not already registered on amazon is it since candeo without the capital letter is also a registered trademark to someone else?

Another attempt at application generated another rejection and this reason:
"The application status in the trademark website is registered where as the application was raised for the pending trademark.
To register your brand you can raise the registered trademark case for your registered brand."
This implies to me that I selected “pending” during the Enrol page… But no such option exists… I simply entered the TM number.
Is there a different method of application for pending trademarks vs registered trademarks?
Thanks

So it turns out my application was going into the Amazon system, as though I had selected “Pending” on the application page. No such option exists on this page (at least, it doesn’t for me) for UK IPO trademarks, although I can see it does for other countries.
Amazon’s systems were receiving a “Pending” application from me, and matching it to a “Registered” trademark, and therefore rejecting.
After a bit of brute force repeat applications, and uploading a screenshot showing that no “Pending” option exists on the page, I appear to be making some progress as the case has now been escalated, and not immediately rejected.

I have the same problem and using brute force to get an escalation to human is what I’m trying. How did you eventually escalate? I just keep applying and then submit a case with screenshots showing the old UK page which has option to select between pending and registered vs the current page which doesn’t show this option. It is clearly a bug and they haven’t bothered to fix it given its been like this for months now.
Any tips to escalate to a human would be appreciated. I’ll let you know what happens but it’s been 48 hours with robotic rejections and badly worded English emails to reject the appeals too.

I have exactly the same problem, still in 2022 - support just ignores what I say about there being no option to choose from, shut down my cases every time.

Yes - finally someone at Amazon (human) realised there was a bug and then got a manual resolution for me though it was a waste of time, I don’t know whether the bug still exists though
