We’ve had 2 messages today both from Italian buyers in Turin, for items sent 13 December, tracked and signed. Both parcels arrived in Italy on 20 December and have not made it out of the postal distribution centre in Turin.

Royal Mail have said they can investigate on 14 January but I expect A-Z before then. I have asked both buyers to wait until 14 January at which point I will refund. I hope they wait. They seem nice enough so far.

This is a repeat of last year. Turin (Torino) always has problems and always delivers eventually. Last year 2 parcels to Turin sent at the beginning of December were delivered on 21 January. By then both refunded but RM refused the claim made on 13 January because now delivered.

I would prefer not to post to Italy or Spain but when our best sellers are out of stock on FBA they are like honey for the hijackers.

Italy and Spain are both INR countries for me.

What these countries buyers have in common are angry messages and long negative feedbacks written with Caps Lock and multiple exclamation marks. I can’t even imagine how can someone get so mad over a 2€ item with 0.50€ shipping which apparently “never arrived” despite being promptly shipped to the buyer’s long Italian/Spanish address.

The buyers are refusing to listen to any advice to check the mailbox or ask at the post office, claiming that Amazon courier always calls them before delivery and therefore the package was lost (or never sent) and referring to me with all possible names and insults from scammer to thief and threatening to call the police or other authorities if I don’t give them an immediate full refund.
This is what I have to deal with every single day

And then, once they get the refund, they contact me that the package was found at the post office/ mailbox but never manage to get their card recharged.

I think that the reason why there are so many INR issues are their unusually long and complicated shipping addresses. Almost every Italian/Spanish address is an apartment or workplace, which includes things like “door, room, floor, department, section” and then various numbers and letters. The untracked packages are then either delivered somewhere to the reception or left at the post office without any notice.

i used hermes for a MF item (£30) to italy. Sent 18th dec, just about got there. Buyer understandably annoyed. In future will

-Not use Hermes their customer service is abysmal
-Pay for guarenteed delivery so i can claim back for late delivery

We had so many issue with Italy we decided to stop dealing altogether and closed the market down. Since ethen we have redirected the resource into other areas and gained much more growth. Guess sometimes the time and sale isn’t worth the hassle…not all business is good bushiness!

Yep, Italy and Spain are the worst. In our case despite all the losses, we still make a small profit off them, just enough to make it fiscally worthwhile. But the hassles are endless. The Italians run late and the Spanish recoil in horror at the idea of collecting something themselves.

I have better luck with just standard air mail large letters which don’t include tracking. These somehow get less complaints. I suppose it’s because it comes through their door with less complications and delays. Paying for tracking is pointless anyway, since it’s never actually tracked, signed, or delivered on time.

We charge them a bit more to cover all the problems, in any case.

I agree Italy and Spain are less reliable for post.
FBA no problem
Parcels with tracking so so if you have long handling time
If parcels sent without tracking or very short handling time, you are in big trouble

100% of my pre xmas orders through Royal Mail International Standard still havn’t arrived, so i decided yesterday to shut done the amazon.it marketplace. Seems like do much hassle for minimal profit once they have been refunded.

We only use Pan Euro FBA for Italy and Spain, i’ve had both marketplace accounts suspended twice for multiple INR.
