Hermes thefts empty box scam

Hi all,

After some advice please. In the space of the last 24 hours I have had 5 customers from across the country contact me to tell me that they have received their orders however the item received was an empty box. They all report that the box could be seen to have been opened and then resealed. The cost to me is about £500 in lost stock so as you can imagine i am fairly livid with the situation. Needless to say this is the last straw for me with Hermes, the service is TRULY shocking.

I am after some advice to reclaim some of the money I have lost from them and how would be best to approach this situation please? I am also keen to know if others have experienced this as it may narrow down exactly where this is happening if its just me it has happened to.

Thanks in advance.

Report it to Hermes, however keep in mind customer can do exactly the same and claim it’s empty. Is there any similarity in buyers address etc.? Considering amount of loss you mentioned (£100 per item)? Is it in any way visible during shipping process that item is of higher value? Also, check tracking - did these packages go through same depots? I presume depot closest to you will be involved for all of these packages as it’s where it begin shipping process.

Were all the parcels posted at the same time/place? If so then clearly there could have been tampering with the packages.

If they weren’t then could it be a drop shipper making false claims? You can check the billing address in reports to check this.

Just to mention, there’s been an Amazon driver around these parts helping himself to the contents of parcels (now dealt with by Amazon by all accounts). The local Hermes driver on the other hand is lovely. Word travels fast on local Facebook groups.
