FBA Stock showing as recieved but not available
Hi all,
I sent some stock to Amazon FBA using approved shipping - I expected it to be a bit slower due to time of year, so after it was sent I returned the item listings back to FBM.
It took a while for the system to show as receiving - but now, although the stock has shown as received since 4th December, it still isn’t available - it still shows are receiving on the shipping queue.
Is this normal for the time of year?
Thanks
James

Changing the SKU (s) back to FBM after sending stock to Amazon is a risky experiment. You don`t mention whether you have have you changed them back to FBA?
I would check my FBA inventory report to see if any of this stock is listed as unfulfillable. I have had this happen a few times when I have closed a listing then months after the fact Amazon has accepted a return which has no active sku to match up with. There is normally an alert by it which leads you through help pages on fixing the issue

You need to see in the manage inventory queue whether any of the received items show as available . If there are any showing as available than your listing should be avialable and if all are still showing as reserved than your listing will show as unavailable

I’ve no idea why you’d do this, or what you’d gain from it.
If you sent all the stock of the SKUs to FBA then if you get FBM orders for them, what are you going to fulfill them with? If you’ve received new stocks in the meantime, then just list them separately as FBM.
But listing stock that you’ve sent to FBA as FBM, when you currently have no access to that stock to fulfill with, would be ODR suicide I’d have thought?

Some cases it can take a week or more before they check in inventory. Probably just sat at the loading bay. I sent some stock to warehouse 9am Monday and it was received and checked in around 6am the following morning.

I personally wouldnt change a listing to Seller Fullfilled when I had just sent the items in as FBA. Asking for a muck up in my humble opinion. You can always create another ASIN with a different barcode and seller SKU and make that active until the FBA stock appears.

As mentioned above, I also I always do a temporary merchant fulfilled listing when an item is inbound to FBA but currently out of stock (and still have some here with me). It takes seconds:
On the listing’s inventory page, click “add another condition” (by clicking the arrows next to the edit button). Ensure it’s on basic view (so “Advanced view” is at the off position).
Then simply put the price in, the quantity, the SKU (I put the same SKU but add “- Merch”. For example SKU number “XYZ” I would name “XYZ - Merch” so when an order comes in it’s easy to pick out). Make sure you select “I want to dispatch this item myself to the customer if it sells.” Now you have the same listings with Merchant fulfillable stock. Once FBA inbound inventory is scanned in and available for sale, I simply deleted the “-Merch” listing (or you can set quantity to zero). It is a really effective way of ensuring you always have stock available for sale (and it’s super-quick to do)

Keep checking your inventory dashboard to see when SKU’s with stranded inventory show up, then convert them back to FBA, I convert mine back to FBM whilst waiting for inventory to be received once an item is sold out, but I do have back up stock to cover sales whilst waiting. Regarding ‘reserved inventory’ whilst goods are trans shipped to other fulfilment centres, although customers are able to order with a forward order date, I find customers dont place orders when the items are shown as not ‘in stock’.
