Check your fees on CD and DVD sales! Amazon con trick!
Hello, Sell for under £5 and fee should be 5.1% plus VAT. Or so you think.
Actually, I have sold a number of reduced price items recently and EVERY ONE has been charged at 15.3% plus VAT. This puts the sale into negative income.
Amazon are still thinking about giving me refunds even though they have accepted the error.
What a useless organisation. Why do we bother?

There’s a long thread about this somewhere that you may find interesting. A forum search should find it. Several people reported successful refunds but it’s a bit odd that amazon haven’t addressed the issue.
Think how much they’re making in extra fees from the megalisters.

Here is the original thread:
More evidence of the increasingly shabby way Amazon treats its 3rd party sellers ?

Thanks for the reminder.
I’ve just checked and I have sold almost 100 sub-£5 CDs in the last six months so it’s time to look more closely at the fees.
I will revive that older thread.

not only that so many items are being charged higher Fba fees. They are just using the wrong measurement and place the item in higher band. they we have to argue for around 10 days and then they will do physical check and then still refuse to issue a refund of higher Fba fees charged.

I received a refund last week. Filled out a spreadsheet, had to go back a forth a few times with seller support but got there in the end. Annoyingly it’s still not changed so will need to do another claim at some point.

By the way, one other thing to check.
Not only does Amazon de-fraud us out of the difference between 15.3% and 5,1%; the fixed part of the charge is not always 60p. This can vary depending on which area the cd or dvd is listed in their system. I have some charged at 89p for some of my items and this is when the correct variable rate has been used.
I have been told so far that the items were not listed as BMVD but as “Additive Products” whatever that is.
Not happy. I wonder where else the Gods at Amazon are cheating their users? Do we have to check every calculation?

Sorry if being a bit slow here but if if i sell a DVD for 3.99 plus 1.30 post am i right in thinking that would still be the 15.3% rate and if so using my 1.30 post charge anything under 3.69 plus post would attract the lower fee…
thks

Good point. I have not contacted the MD…
I guess many of us are so punch-drunk with useless Seller Support and hard nosed decisions which help con-artist buyers; none of us have any faith in CEO’s MD’s or other Amazon Fat cats to solve problems like this one.

…in fact the mega sellers must have realised they were losing money. I certainly did as a lowly private seller…
