Anyone use Shopify?

Hi All

Does anyone use Shopify to see their items? - If so - is it worth it costs?

I did read somewhere you can incorporate it into your Amazon shop / and/or eBay ?

Any recommendations or tips most welcome
thanks

Richard

Shopify is ideal for small sellers who don’t have the skills or resources for their own web site.

It can be a little more expensive than other website suppliers such as Wix but Shopify has excellent support and help if needed.

Cost wise you need to be a little careful with the extra plugins that can be included as that is when costs can really start to mount.

But if you want an easy to use ecommerce store with probably the best support in the business then it is a good option over hiring your own web designer.

The Amazon-Shopify link is only for Amazon.com, not European sites.

We’ve used it for the last 3 years. Yes it’s a little expensive compared to others but the support is excellent.

Go for the cheapest selling plan as unless you’re doing a massive turnover it’s not worth it.

They also advertise with Google so you should get a little organic traffic.

Then its down to you to promote it on social media and anywhere else you can think of

My only issue with Shopify is that you never own your own website.

With my illusions of grandeur I will be one day have a multimillion pound business and don’t want pay 2.2% Card fees.

We use it heavily, it’s not true Shopify is only for small sellers. Shopify is one of the most utilized e-commerce platforms in the world and plenty of big names are using it.

And we use it to save money comparing to Amazon.

We have several Shopify sites on our own domains in the UK, ES, FR and IT.

We fulfill all orders via Amazon’s multichannel fulfillment.

There are apps allowing you to use FBA and Shopify in each marketplace, not only in the US.

Some says card fees are high. Amazon’s 15% fee is not high? We pay 2% on Shopify comparing to 15% on Amazon.

We can drive our own traffic via Facebook / Instagram / Google ads.

Highly recommended.

I looked into Shopify a couple of weeks back because it said that you can link your FBA to it. It turn out that with Shopify UK you currently can’t link to FBA without installing a 3rd party plugin and that costs extra per month. If you are selling hundreds of pounds per month it might be worth it, else it may not be worth the money and fees.

With Shopify , you do need to spend more on driving traffic to your items . So while you do not have the higher costs per sale of Amazon , your marketing costs do increase .

Some are comparing 2% with Amazon 15% . Thats not comparing Apples with Apples . Amazon has a lot going for it , including buyer confidence .

So while Shopify enables you to be more in control of your business / returns / refunds , customer data , you may need to have the budget for more marketing . In the long run it is definitely more beneficial to not be solely reliant on Amazon.

Shopify is a good choice for those wanting to have their own website

i do not too bad on shopify but a word of warning, have a healthy budget, a very healthy budget, to advertise and get it up and running and be prepared to be spending continually on advertising. the costs can certainly mount up and you will certainly need a good “start up” budget.

Unlike amazon/ebay YOU need to find your customers, they won’t come to you like the do on these platforms

I’ve used shopify, ecwid and woocommerce. I would say this - if you have any abilities with making websites then go with Woocommerce or ecwid.

Shopify is dreadful, its extremely inflexible when setting up your site. The add ons if you check them usually have apalling reviews as well as being expensive. If you are able to add a chunk of code to a page on your site thats enouch tech knowledge to set up ecwid, and its brilliant.

I found the support on shopify very poor, it is aimed at the complete novice. Ecwid is far superior. Woocommerce you can run for free but you need a bit of technical know how to use it.
