Amazon Won't Pay me cos my account is overdrawn

due to them taking 7 authorisation payments which are still pending but have come off my balance in less than 2 weeks. Now they are asking me to change my card as, in their view, they think it is incorrect. It’s not but I have NO money cos it is sat in my seller account. I have no other card and if they paid me MY money and stopped repeatedly authorising my account and not putting anything in it I wouldn’t be overdrawn. I’ve closed my listings. It’s impossible as a new seller to actually make any money. I had to ship the items at my own expense and it takes weeks to get paid and now they won’t pay me at all. I honestly do not know why anyone bothers selling on Amazon. It is an absolutely farce.

Many people get caught with this one, it’s very daft of Amazon but if you stick, you’ll get used to Amazon doing whatever they want, whenever they want. My advice, get out now before you get to rely on any income from Amazon.

Amazon will still pay you if you are overdrawn, as long as there is money available to spend. For example if you have an agreed overdraft.

They won’t pay you if you have just gone overdrawn without any lending facility from the bank. Can you ask the bank for an overdraft? Even if it makes £50 available to spend, Amazon will then pay you. Even if you are minus balance.

Charlie222,
Are you using a visa debit card?

If you are using a visa debit card account as a charge method as well as a deposit method for a UK bank account, make sure you maintain a minimum of £5 in the account. Should the balance in your account fall below £5, Amazon’s ability to charge any incurred fees to the account may fail and your selling privileges may be removed:

It may help to understand that when a payment disbursement is due, Amazon will first ping the bank digitally to ensure that there is a secure channel open for receipt of payment. If there is insufficient balance on the debit card, the bank will return an error which is picked up on the Amazon system. The specifics are not provided by the bank hence the error code Amazon get is a failed disbursement and the system will automatically send an ‘invalid credit card’ details via our communication system. While a seller may have the correct details entered, it is due to the insufficient funds at the time of the digital ping that creates the issue.

To resolve this, you will need to ensure there is the minimum balance in your account and then upload the card details again -

In regard to the pre authorisation payments - When you register or update your credit card information, and validated your credit card, Amazon Payments Europe asks your bank to authorise its use. We do this by asking your bank to authorise us to charge a small amount of up to GBP 1. Amazon Payments Europe does not actually make the charge; we only ensure that this amount exists in your account, which confirms the validity of the card information you have provided.
Although most banks handle this type of request so that it does not appear as a charge, some do show the authorisation as a pending charge. Either way, the authorisation request should disappear from your credit card statement within a time period defined by the bank depending on their policies.

see the section of ‘what happens after I enter my credit card details’ in the following link:

Yeah I understand what you mean. Unfortunately it’s what we all signed up to.

Their argument would be what if a customer returns the item and there isn’t enough money to refund them, should Amazon have to pay? It’s annoying that they hold it, but as I said it’s just part of selling on here.

Yes we all know it’s the rules BUT, this is for transfer of his/her money into an account. There is no need at all for their to be an “available” balance. It’s just an example of the backwards way things are done in the Amazoniverse.
