Is this a scam email?
I got this email today and it’s fishy, do I reply to them or does this open me up to an attack, sounds like my brand name is about to be abused on Amazon. I blocked our brand name with #### but they have got the correct name.
Dear Manager,
We are an agency engaging in registering brand name and domain names. Our center received an application from Zuozhuang International Ltd and they apply to register ##### as their brand name and some top-level domain names. We found the main body of domain names is same as your company name. I am not sure about the relationship between you and them. Please tell me whether or not your company authorizes them to register names.
We are dealing with the application and we need to confirm whether you have authorized them? If you don’t authorize them, please reply me an e-mail. Looking forward to your reply.
Best regards,
Phoebe Mao | Service & Operations Manager

Ok false alarm I think.
After some digging I found out that this company claim that someone is trying to register against your brand, then they say that you can block them by paying them money. Scum company preying on people.

Is it supposedly from Amazon ? - I have never seen Amazon address anyone as Dear Manager.
Sounds like a scam to me - but I am no expert.

We’ve had one of these before, quite soon after our Trademark application was published in the register for dispute. It seemed to me to just be a scam. Nothing ever came of it, so I wouldn’t worry.

I’ve had a few similar emails. You’ll get another email after a certain amount of time increasing the urgency to act.
I researched it when I got my first one and it’s a practice that’s been around a while it seems. The way it plays out appears to be that if you reply, they’ll come back and tell you how much $ it would be for them to register these domains for you to stop the other named company getting them. It was unclear whether it’s a pure scam (i.e. they do a bunk with your dough) or whether they do indeed register the domains for you, albeit from initially false pretences, and make money from it.
Either way, just ignore it.
