Anyone Used Whistl?
As I’m sure lots of others are doing at the moment I’m looking at alternatives for Royal Mail. 99% of my items are letter and large letter size which makes things very difficult. I’ve come across Whistl through Parcel2Go. From the information on there my understanding is they do the sorting of the mail and then drop off at Royal Mail delivery offices for the postmen to deliver. Just wondering if this would be a good alternative should the November strikes go ahead. Anyone know do they literally just use Royal Mail for the very end point of delivery so in theory cutting out the middle areas (processing/sorting) etc who are striking on the different days? If so would I only need to worry about the “delivery” day strikes?
They advertise 3-5 working day delivery which whilst not great if it means it’s that rather than a week plus which could easily happen in November with backlogs etc. I’m going to take a punt and a guess that they probably will be a 7 days a week operation for the sorting etc too?

if they pass over to RM anyway, then i would imagine you’ll still be affected by the strikes
i know when we trialled UK Mail - who did the same thing, they added on an extra day to each service too in order to get them to the RM delivery depots

I don’t see the point in them to be honest. Only one of their prices was cheaper than CRL price and it was minimal. You’d still be impacted by the strikes as they use RM.

Not really, if it involves Royal Mail on any leg I would say despite the area or capacity you are using them its going to have any material difference other than you are adding a day to all of your deliveries (can’t use buy shipping so lose some protection on stats if you use it)
Also most of the Royal Mail deliveries are getting there 1 or 2 days later meaning that even if everything worked to perfection and within your theory there still would be a net increase in overall delivery times.
Sometimes you just have to weather the storm for the large letters. Spend time looking for parcel alternatives as this is worth your while and Royal Mail are not that competitive on that side anyway.
