VAT Registration requests from Amazon
So have had another request to get signed up for VAT so I can continue to sell on amazon under the Hand Made trader section.
We are not VAT Registered in the UK and to be honest don’t want to be either as it would add yet another cost onto our already extortionate amount charged by our accountant. It just won’t make selling here a viable option.
Is there way to trade without being VAT registered? or do we just walk away now and give up trying to sell on here

Amazon regularly encourages sellers to sign up for VAT so they can push their other services. It is only an encouragement. You are only required to register for VAT if you meet the requirements for being VAT registered.

You don’t have to be VAT registered. We get those from time to time and just ignore them. We are also in Handmade.

I got another email from Amazon about registering for VAT. In it states this as one of the reasons for having to register.
UK VAT regulations
Scope: Sellers registered on Amazon and selling to customers within the UK.
You are required to be VAT registered in the UK if:
- You are a Seller storing inventory in the UK
Which is just nonsense! You don’t need to be VAT registered for just storing inventory. If you are below the 85k threshold then that’s it. Don’t know how they can justify sending that email out.
