Suspicious about Buyer requesting extra pictures

So a buyer has requested extra pictures of an item I sell.

Not normally a problem. I asked them what is was specifically they wanted to see. Usually they want to see some closeup or against a measuring tape etc.

However, in this case buyer wants to see item in its original packaging and specifically the labels. Are they just trying to discover who makes/supplies the product so they can buy directly to sell for themselves do you think?

Or could be a manufacturer wanting to check authenticity/batch numbers

Or a buyer suspicious about fakes

Nothing surprises me any more. Could also be as you say.

And as a side note not related, this type of thread is the exact reason why this forum should be private to sellers only and not buyers

I suppose one way to look at it is that it may be better to send photos than to have someone make an order, see the same info and then file a return.

I know its definitely not that.

With so many people in forums asking for supplier/wholesaler information I just think its suspicious. I dont think I will supply such pictures.

Just a theory, but could this be a seller that has being asked by Amazon to supply pics for a fake product to prove authenticity of theirs?

It is not unusual for Amazon to ask this so they could be wanting to submit or the other problem is that they may just want to supply it FBA and then fake it themselves.

You are right to be suspicious.

That’s true ^, it’s a shame we have to think like this though, unfortunately this is what the online marketplaces have done, mixing in reputable business sellers with many others who are not genuine, or out to cause trouble.
