Lady don't fall backwards
Can a book with the last page missing ever be described as GOOD ? Surely not?
Unfortunately I don’t know if by “last page” it means the endpaper or possibly and advert ( even better an advert for “skinny men”!!). As the book in question is listed by an apparently experienced seller it might have been made a little clearer

If it’s missing an end paper it should say “ missing end paper” .If it’s missing part of the text it should say “ missing part of text” ,or even “ a vital part of text.” It would be difficult to describe as good a book missing a vital page ,but as some of the idiots on Amazon can describe an ex-lib copy with stamps everywhere as vg then don’t be surprised at anything on Amazon ( read some reviews where a customer complains that a so called “new” book has marks etc.)

Hi Inspector West,
Well, books have been published with the last page missing, the last half-page, the last line!, the last chapter or an earlier chapter all missing. I know of one where the publisher didn’t want to go over to another page and altered the last line of text to suit - the author (Harry Harrison) would hand re-correct the text if he was offered the book to sign and he had time - or just rip out the last text page if he was in a hurry…
I know of one author who was so incensed with the Dust Jacket on one of her books that if she was offered one to sign, she would remove the jacket and rip it up in front of the shocked collector!
Can you ‘ask the seller’?

maybe the writer died before he finished it - or someone lit a fag with it

This is what Amazon has to say in its listing guidelines:
What we will not accept for sale at Amazon.co.uk: mouldy, badly stained or unclean copies; copies which are unreadable or with missing pages or obscured text; promotional books, including advance reading copies. Uncorrected proof copies are prohibited.

I would think missing endpapers are ok as long as neatly removed and listed as acceptable or good, at a stretch.
It’s probably quite common for front endpapers to be removed if they bear the name of the previous owner[s].

When I was in the forces you had to guard your books, as it was common for someone to cut out the last page. I never did it myself of course!
