Selling in the EU while based in the Netherlands

Hi All,

I am contacting you because I am interested in selling items on Amazon UK from the Netherlands, where I currently reside. Amazon.nl currently only sells books and kindle related items and it is not possible yet to sell physical items there. I would like to see what options I have to sell via amazon.co.uk to all of the EU countries.

The items will be shipped from the US - from another amazon seller - and I would like to sell them in the EU market via Amazon. I am working closely with the private seller in the US and we are looking to expand sales in the EU. There is demand for this product in the EU as there are quite a few buyers who are willing to pay the shipping and custom fees as the item is not locally available.

My idea is get those items into the EU, cover the import and taxes fees myself and then sell them here. With this business model, the buyers will be paying less with much shorter shipping times. My calculations show that the margins are good enough to proceed.

Is it possible to do this via FBA while I register a company in the Netherlands? Are there any other options that I can work with?

I know this is not the typical support question, but I am not sure where to get such information from, your guidance will be trully appreciated.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you!

First, this is NOT Amazon support, it is a sellers forum.
So if your looking for amazon answers, then you need to contact support directly.

However, the most glaring ommision that you have in what you have written, is that if you store and sell your stock in another country, you need to register for VAT in said country.
That is highly likely to affect your profits.

But the short answer is yes, you can do what you have proposed. Though I would strongly advise the use of a good accountant to get things setup properly for you.
The VAT man etc is exceedingly powerful. You may also be liable for UK taxes etc.
