New defualt shipping settings coming - What's this about?

I’ve just got a notification on my account which says…

"The new Shipping Settings are now available for your account. The deadline to migrate your account before it is automatically migrated is approaching. Click here to learn more and start your migration. Click here to learn more and start your migration."

However, when I click the link there is no infomation ‘to learn more’, it’s just a link to my shipping settings. Does anyone know what this is about, what are the changes, and when is the deadline?

To be honest I’m getting somewhat sick and tired of Amazon bouncing us into things at very short notice and with very little information.

I have that too, and the red flag of death. I’m going to wait until Amazon fix it before trying it.

Had an email about it this morning too.

Dear Seller,

As part of our effort to continuously improve customer experience on Amazon, we are streamlining the shipping options available for on seller-fulfilled items. Currently, we have three ship options: Standard Shipping, Expedited Shipping and Premium Shipping. The transit times for these options frequently overlap, causing customer confusion so we are streamlining our ship options down to two: Standard Shipping and Premium Shipping.

We will remove Expedited Shipping and replace it with either Premium Shipping or Standard Shipping options. Starting 2019/03/04, you will not be able to add or make changes to Expedited Shipping in your shipping templates. Starting 2019/03/21, if you offer Expedited Shipping to domestic Customers with a transit time of 2 days or less, we will automatically replace Expedited Shipping with Premium Shipping in your shipping template. We will maintain the same transit time and shipping rate as set by you for Expedited shipping. If you do not meet the requirements for Premium Shipping, your offers will show only Standard shipping to Customers.

Expedited and Premium Shipping have different requirements, including the fact that Premium Shipping requires enabling tracking for all orders.

This change does not require action on your part, but we encourage you to review your ship options and ensure they reflect the best shipping options you are able to offer Customers.

If you do not want to offer Premium Shipping, you can disable Premium Shipping from your shipping templates.

Thank you for selling on Amazon.

Sincerely,
Amazon Services Europe

I get the same message for a while now, click it, shows shipping settings, no information as to what I need to do or change or anything at all, absolutely ridiculous… plus no idea what “migrate shipping settings” even mean…

What do we have to do?

I see this a few weeks ago but hadn’t taken action just yet. We used to have standard (2nd class) expedited as 1st class and the premium next day. However the other day i was having a look through and i see we had some orders listed as “second day” no idea what that even was at the time. Not only that one order was placed at 12pm and the other at 1:50pm and both were showing as they had to be shipped the same day.
Ive gone to check on my shipping setting and have found that what i had as expedited was now “second day” which means it has to arrive within 2 days. Handling time is not taken into account.

Its baffling really because we ship all products the next day and if we send 24 then it should arrive within the 2 day period but this is wanting us to ship it the same day.

I guess were just being pushed more and more into prime

I only offer standard shipping, for which I send first class post.Am I right in guessing I don’t have to change any settings?

Had this newsflash since 19th February.

All it means is Amazon is not allowing express shipping settings. If you are eligible for premium shipping then that’s the way you now have to go.

If you do not provide express shipping, then you do not need to do anything.

the differences between premium and express are:

premium - must be tracked, delivery time include handling time
express - do not need to be tracked, excludes handling time.

This is a good thing for buyers. It stops the sellers charging premium shipping that have long handling times.

e.g. The buy pays for 1 day shipping (expecting delivery the next day) however the seller has mark that it will take them 14 days before they will ship it, so takes 15 days, so pointless buying next day shipping.

Premium shipping stops this.
